Black & Blue

The ultimate pop album just hit stores on November 21st. So many pop albums have been released in 2000 ,but not quite anything like BSB's" Black & Blue" album.Too bad the single didn't really reflect The perfection of this album. This album will sell millions, and rightly so. It's not a piece of musical genius , but it sure is an album in the same class with MJ's Thriller. NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" , is nothing more than the three singles(Bye Bye Bye , It's Gonna Be Me & This I Promise You) , Britney's "Oops I Did it Again" is just that song , 98 degrees revelation was one to forget , Spice Girls "Forever " only indicated they were done , Forever. BSB's new album is very diffrent from " Millenium" . Millenium was a good album but some of the songs were there to complete the CD , not truly world class. But this one is different , every song is truly a pop phenomenon. It almost sounds like a greatest hits album. It's very rare that an album has 7-8 single worthy tracks , but this one just does.

The Call-Next single , very diffrent from the up beat pop songs we're used to.Very edgy.Hip hop and Latin feel to it. Can't wait for the Outkast remix

Shape of my Heart- Not nearly as strong as "I Want it That Way" although very similar

Get Another Boy Friend-Could be a big single. I love this song. AJ & Nick pulled this one of with rap like singings

Shining Star- Very unusual for BSB , heavy R&B feel to it. Annoying at first but then grows on you.Not single worthy though

I promise you(with every thing I am)-Classic BSB , very simple beauty to it , could also be a single

Answer to our Life-Arguably the best song on the album , very warm song , definetly single worthy

Everyone- Not very original , it's lyrics are sincere but a liitle over produced

More than that-Very beautiful song , this one is good for the adults

Time- Very nice ballad, Babyface's influence very evident , single worthy

Not For Me- easily could be a smash hit , incredibly catchy

Yes I will- sounds like a Boys II Men song ,

It's True- The best ballad on the album , another big song for BSB

What Makes you Different(Makes you beautiful)-Don't get it why it's only a bonus song , my personal favourite. Howie should sing more

How did I fall In Love With You-Elthon John would have been proud of this one, nice conclusion to a remarkable album.

Ten years now , BSB will still be around if they don't break up , unquestionably the best Teen Pop has to offer and most likely act to establish themselves as the next Beatles... Long live BSB

This album is the unique on eof them all. It shows their growth as a band and the way they are experimenting with their music. Here are the individual reviews of the songs:

THE CALL: ****.5 Is a preetty cool song although the intro is a little lame. Their voices are well suited to the song, just like Everybody was...

SHAPE OF MY HEART: ****.5 This is one of the more powerful tracks that stays with you. Every time I hear it it becomes stronger. Great blending of voices too.

GET ANOTHER BOYFREIND: ****.75 This is one of the best short-pop songs they've ever done. I love the bit before the Chorus. Well done and real catchy.

SHINING STAR: **** This is a song that is in the middle. It is really good but can get annoying after a while. It sounds suspiciously like all the other songs with Rodney Jerkins producing, especially the Spice Girl song 'Holler'. Still, it's alright.

I PROMISE YOU WITH EVERYTHING I AM: *** I have to confess, I'm not that much of a fan of ballads. They occasionally grab me but sadly this one doesn't. I've listened to it a few times and it just seems too mushy for me. Add another star if you enjoy these sort of songs...

THE ANSWER TO OUR LIFE: ****.99 This is a great song which shows the song-writing talent of the group. They can write a good song if they put their hearts into it. Which they definately have here. An all-together-now singalong type one.

EVERYONE: ***.5 Although it starts out with rhythmn it gets pretty sloppy after. It's very average and not one of the good tracks, it actually sounds like something N*SYNC might come up with . Has the same structure of the average pop.

MORE THAN THAT: **** Great song. Nothing much else to say really...

TIME: ***.99 I don't really go for it but this is for the hardcore fans. Their songwriting abilities are slightly less shown in this one. Sounds like an oldie song. Very muddled and clustered in the Chorus.

NOT FOR ME: ***** This is my ultimate favourite on the CD. It's cyber like and is very groovy. Catchy chorus and great performances from the guys. Has all the elements of a new-age song. Brilliant.

YES I WILL: ** This is a dissapiontment. Although its partly written by AJ it seems as though it has no substance. Poorly done.

IT'S TRUE: *** Alright, not the best. Has a nice tone to it and is great for relaxing. Classic BSB ballad.

sorry gotta go now. i'll update later...

Well people, this is my review on Black and Blue.

First off, I wanna say that this is very different from what BSB has done before, but as AJ and Brian so nicely put it in Time" I know we've changed, but change can be so good" and it definately is good, I love this album(I'm listening to it right now!)I can't understand how this album didn't sell as much as No Strings Attached, it makes no sense( no offense to *NSYNC, they're ok)but us as fans know that this is a great album and Nick, Brian, AJ, Howie and Kevin can go nowhere but right on top where they belong. Ok now finally for the review (sorry people i just had to make our boys sound good which we already know they are!!!!)

1.) The Call: What's there to say, I absolutely love this song, it's one of my favorites. Nick and AJ sound sooo damn good.

2.) Shape of my Heart: I have to admit, that when I first heard this song, I wasn't too sure about it, but after hearing it on the radio like 20 times a day, I really started loving it. Great song.

3.)Get Another Boyfriend: This so is also really good. I love it when in the begining AJ says: Backstreet, and also Nicks part, I love it.

4.)Shining Star: At first when I saw this on the CD I thought it was a love song, but boy was I wrong. This has an R&B flavor to it and it's cool and different. Well done to Howie and Nick for co-writting it.

5.) I Promise You(With Everything I Am): I love this song, the words are really beautiful. This can never be compared to *NSYNC's This I Promise You because this song is sooo much better. The words make you wanna cry.

6.)The Answer To Our Life: Honestly, this isn't one of my favourites. I don't know, I just can't get used to it.

7.)Everyone:I love the beat of this song, the words are really great and Brian, you guys DO belong. We love you guys!!!

8.)More Than That: What is there to say about this song, it's really wonderful, the words have so much depth and meaning. Nick gets me every time with"Baby, you deserve much better" This and The Call are my favorites.

9.)Time:It's a cool song, kind of like the boys telling their stories of how far they've come and I know, they are going to go so much further. The Boys worked with Babyface on this one and we all know what a reputation he has.

10.) Not For Me:Definately a booty-shaking song.

11.) Yes I Will:The words are so excellent. The start is so good, I love the R&B theme it gives off.Congrats to AJ for co-writting this beautiful love song.

12.) It's True: I heard this song long before the album was officially released. What's there to say except that it's a great ballad.

13.)How Did I Fall In Love With You:This is such a touching song. Well done Howie!!

Overall I have to say, well done to our boys,I love this album and no matter how much it gets dissed by critics and *NSYNC fans, I will continue to support and love The Backstreet Boys, " It's true, I mean it, from the bottom of my heart"

This is Charlene Tommy signing off saying, KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!!

A good album, the best the Backstreet Boys have done. Much better than Millennium, it also is an international world record.

1 to 10, 1 being the worst, 10 being the best

The Call- A great song, it starts out with a phone call. It is edgy, and deals with a real life situation- cheating. I love how they harmoize so well, on I Will Be Late, Don't Stay Up And Wait For Me. In the beginning of the song, there are these beats that you can't ignore and get you in a dancing mood. AJ and Brian sings the best in this song.

I grade this song a 7.

Shape Of My Heart- I love this song, it starts with Brian's emotional voice, and it has mature lyrics. They sing so well in this song. The video is great, it is in black and blue, hence the title, haha, and it involves an actor and really clever filming techinques.

It isn't a ballad or dance song, this is a song where their voices really stand out.

In the video, they are concentrated on the singing, and there are funny parts, like where somone pulls down Aj's hat, when they sing, kept you in the dark. When it's Nick's part, he drops his papers, when he sings a long note, lol, ha.

I grade this a 8.

Get Another Boyfriend- The best song on the album. It is very R&B. I wish BSB would release this as their next single. It is very edgy, and is talking about how their boyfriend isn't good enough for the girl, that he knows that the boyfriend is cheating on her, and doing not so good things. It deals with a real life situation, and they have great vocals.

I grade this a 10+!

Shining Star- The most R&B song on the album. It was written by Nick and AJ. It has great lyrics, and Nick sings the best on this song, he sings best here on the whole album actually. It has a very catchy tune, my fourth favorite song out of 13 songs actually. I could go on and on about this song- When the phone rings, I won't hear a thing, when I'm in your arms, You're my shining star, That is what you are.......

I grade this a 8.

I Promise You (With Everything I Am)- They sing so gently on this song. This is not the best ballad on the album, but it is much better than NSync's This I Promise You (and that was a good song!). It is like a wedding song, but it is really sweet, and a spanish guitar is heard on the background. They sing so well on this song.

I grade this a 9 and a half.

The Answer To Our Life- This is classic Backstreet sound. It has a great tune, and they have so much expression in their voice. All of the Backstreet Boys wrote this song, it is very good. This song ties with Get Another Boyfriend (and you know how much I liked that song!). This is the song that the critics are raving about. I wish they would release this as their single.

I grade this a 10.

Everyone- This is a great song. It has that Maddona techno sound, I don't like techno, so I don't like the new sound Maddona has, but this song has clever parts, and it is for the fans, so it's impossible to resist. This song grows on you.

It is more straightfoward that Larger than Life (I liked Larger than Life more though, it's more personal and it is one of my favorite songs that BSB ever did, really). I love the circus part, they don't focus on the vocals, but they sound great.

I grade this a 8.

More Than That- A beautiful song, they sing the best on this song than any other song on the album. It is kind of spanish sounding, and R&B. They harmonize so well, I could keep talking about that.

I grade this a 8.

Time- It's the most deep song on the album. It talks about their past, and what they've been through, and how time keeps going by, and time is what happened, time is the way they matured. They sing so well on this song. This song was produced by Babyface, who is a legend. This song was written by BSB.

I know it sounds very weird, but I love songs that get me in the Christmas spirit, and this song sounds kind of Christmassy. I would imagine this song being played at a peaceful Christmas party, where adults are talking quietly, snow is falling outside, and this song is being played, a very cozy scene, and this song fits the scene.

Not For Me- My second favorite song. It has clever lyrics. It was written by AJ, I forgot, maybe it was Howie, maybe it was Nick. It does not sound like NSync. It is R&B, and is talking about someone cheating on you, and you have eyes, and know what's happening, and tells her (or him) that it is not for me. I love how they sing.

I grade this a 10+.

Yes I Will- This song rules!! It is very R&B. It is kinda country. AJ wrote this song. It is talking about asking a girl to marry him, it is so sweet and heartfelt, it is an interesting song, not sappy at all, but a beautiful song.

I love this song, Brian starts out this song, he sings well, especially the high parts. I want to talk about this song, but it will be so long, lol, I love this song sooo much, so I'll go off now, ok?

I grade this a 10+.

It's True- A good song, it is very emotional. Kevin wrote this song, the best! They sing this song with so emotion, it is talking about making a mistake, and asking the girl to forgive him. you might think that's sappy, but this song is like Back To Your Heart, it is heartfelt and beautiful.

I grade this a 10+.

How Did I Fall In Love With You- The best ballad from the album. My words can't express it, it is so beautiful. You can hear a piano in the background. They hit some high notes. It made me cry.

Believe me, I am kind of ashamed to admit this, but it brought out emotion from me. I'm the kind that cries in movie theaters, like Brian and Kevin say they do, but this song is undescribable.

They sing this song so well, the Backstreet Boys are capable of bringing emotion out of people, actually. Howie gets a lot of solos, he can sing, same with kevin if you'd cough let him sing, cough cough. A beautiful song, I'm serious. Howie wrote this song. I never knew he had writing skills like this, honestly! Listen to this song, I loved it, and same with you.

I grade this a 11.

That was so long, email me at Bluegirl1208@aol.com to tell me your comments of my review or to tell me what you think of the Backstreet Boy's new album. Ok?

As I stood in line at midnight on November 21st, anxiously awaiting my chance to purchase the new Backstreet Boys CD, "Black and Blue", I couldn't help but wonder if this CD could possibly top the distinctive sound and phenomenal success of "Millennium". The moment I heard the opening strands of "The Call", I knew that this album would go far beyond what "Millennium" had been. This album by the Backstreet Boys shows such growth and maturity that it literally left me speechless when I listened for the first time. With strong upbeat songs such as "The Call", and "Get Another Boyfriend", the Boys show that they have an edgier, more rebellious sound that was missing on previous albums. These songs discuss things, such as cheating, that would have NEVER been on the prevoius albums. And, in true Backstreet fashion, the ballads on this album go right for the heartstrings, and have the ability to speak right to the person who is listening. This is evident in "How Did I Fall In Love With You", and "More Than That". The midtempo songs continue to provide instant listening pleasure, which is always enjoyable. I also want to commend the Boys on addressing issues such as cheating, marriage, and proposing to the love of your life on this album. The covering of such issues shows how far these guys have come. There isn't one song that I don't like on this album, and I think that the Backstreet Boys should be proud of this album, and what they have accomplished. For those of us who are true fans--we don't care what any old "suit" in an office somewhere thinks. What we care about is great music and great harmonies. Thanks, Backstreet Boys, for making yet another fantastic album for your fans.

I got Black & Blue Nov. 21!! My first thoughts were WOW..this is really cool! I love this cd because it takes you into the music! When you listen to the music you can feel it.The balleds are the best they have ever had! No doubt this is by far the best cd they have made! One of the best things about this cd is that they wrote the majority of the songs! That means the songs came from there heart. I really love all the songs! But if I had to choose one song that is my favorite it would have to be "I will love you more than that." There is something about there music that just competely pulls you into the song! I LOVE THE CD IT IS THE BEST!!

OMG this is the best album! November 21st was definetely one of my favorite days. Though I have to admit I was worried if this was gonna be a good album or not,but...IT IS!! My rating system of each song is on a scale of 1-5 stars, 5 being the best. So heres my review:

The Call: what an amazing song!! One of my favorite up tempo ones. The video is going to be awesome for this one. A perfect way to start the album! Expecially the beginning of the song with the little phone conversation.

Rating-*****

Shape of my Heart: the first time I heard this song, I didnt know if I would like it, but what can I say, it grew on me and now I love it! The best part is Nick singing "I'm here with my confession/got nothin to hide no more/i dont know where to start/but to show you the shape of my heart/ Rating- ****

Get Another Boyfriend: When I heard the title of this song i knew it was gonna be a great song! And it is! Though kinda a dark song. Whoever said it sounds like Nsync has their head up their butt because it does not. It still has that Backstreet flavor! Rating- *****

Shining Star: Starts out nice, but gets way annoying and I find myself wanting it to end. Nice beat though. Rating- **

I Promise You: This brings me back to the bsb's old ballads. That Backstreet sound that I love. A perfect wedding song I'd say. I love to sing along to it. Rating- *****

The Answer to our Life: Weird lyrics and you find yourself wondering what the heck this song is about. But it is definetely one of the best songs on the album. Best part is when Nick starts and then Brian joins in singing "And were not going to take anymore/can we try to erase all the pain/ and then the chorus. Then AJ comes in and Nick does the same. This is song that gets stuck in your head again and again! Rating- *****

Everyone: Ahhhhh a song to us! The beginning is a little freaky, a perfect song for the opening of their concert. Love the circus music and when it slows down and goes "Now were min. away/till its time to play/ our heartbeats are rising/ their letting u in/time for the show to begin/ Rating- ****

More than That: The beginning of this song is the best. Another one that gets stuck in your head. Rating- ****

Time: My favorite ballad on the album. Tells what they've been through. Favorite part- at the end where Brian wraps the whole song up. Rating- *****

Not for Me- Sounds a lot like Get Another Boyfriend but i love the whole meaning of the song with the whole "crime scene" thing. I love the "no, no, uh, uh" parts. Rating- ****

Yes I Will: This song really shows off Aj's writing talent. A beautiful song! The lyrics are amazing! The best part is where nick sings "As God as my witness I will carry this through" and then it all breaks down. Great! Rating- ****

Its True: This is a beautiful song also but not one of my favorites. When I heard it on the burger king cd I forced myself to like it cause i heard it was gonna be there next single. But all in all its okay. Rating- ***

How Did I Fall in Love with You: This would have to be my second favorite ballad on the album. I practically cried when I heard it! Howie definetely has a hidden talent in writing! OMG!! Rating- *****

Well theres my review on Black and Blue. Thanx for reading.

Total Album Review-9.6 out of 10.

KTBSPA!!!!! :)

I feel that Millenium was by far much better than Black and Blue. I was truly disappointed with this new album. Even though I feel there are a few fast songs the majority are slow. Some of the words in the songs need to be rewritten. Yes, as a BSB fan I am proud that they wrote some of these songs but I just can not get hooked on these songs like I have in the past. BSB-a word of advice-let the songwriters write the music and you do what you do best-sing and dance. You can put your two cents into the music but not all of it.

Thanks for listening....a disappointed fan.

Overall I think B&B is BSB's best, but Millennium was more mature for an older audience.

Anyway here's B&B track by track

The Call

I love this song but I don't know why people say it should be Nsyncs because it is kind of latin. I think Nick does well on this track.

Shape of My Heart

A.j 's part is the best, I love his voice and the lyrics.

Get another boyfriend

This is probably one of my favourite songs ever. Once again I think Nick shines.

Shining star

i like 'Baby your as close as close can get' the best. This is an average song for BSB though, it reminds me of It's gotta be you' from millennium.

i Promise You(With everything I am)

This is a pretty good ballad if your in the mood. I don't think it should be a single though.

The Answer to our life

i love this song because the boys wrote it and it's cool.

Everyone

A bit like Larger than Life. At first i couldn't really get this song, but when you listen to it carefully it's really cool and the circus part is classic.

More Than That

I love this song my favourite of all time. Enough said.

Time

Again nick does the best. I like this song ok but the ending is sort of iffy.

not For me

This is like don't want you back almost. It is a good song but I don't know why it's so compared to Bye Bye Bye.

Yes i Will

This song is a good one and it isn't just about wanting to have babies, it's about wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone.

It's True

an ok song i like 'It's true i mean it from the bottom of my heart"

What makes you different(makes you beautiul)

One of the best songs for a person who stands out. It's a really cool song an Howie wrote it.

How did I fall in love with you

A really good song and it's interesting for howie to do most of the lead, probably cause he wrote it.
