Westwood One, The Official Grammy(R) Radio Network, Announces Eight Grammy Specials

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Westwood One, The Official GRAMMY Radio Network, is proud to present eight GRAMMY Specials in eight different formats: CHR/Top 40, Rock, Alternative, Urban, Country, Adult Contemporary, Smooth Jazz and Classical. Each of Westwood One's GRAMMY Specials are two-hours in length and will air Friday, February 18 through Sunday, February 20, 2000 prior to the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards on February 23, 2000.

Who Wants To Win A GRAMMY (CHR/Top 40) - Hosted by radio personality Ryan Seacrest of Star 98.7 FM Los Angeles, Who Wants To Win A GRAMMY will feature music from artists like Ricky Martin (``Livin' La Vida Loca''), Santana (``Smooth''), Christina Aguilera ``Genie In A Bottle''), Madonna (``Beautiful Stranger''), the Backstreet Boys (``I Want It That Way''), Marc Anthony (``I Need To Know''), Fatboy Slim ``Praise You'') and Everlast (``What It's Like''). The artists will offer their reactions to their nominations and some of the stories behind their potential-GRAMMY winning songs. There will also be highlights from past GRAMMY ceremonies, GRAMMY trivia and a list of this year's performers and presenters.

Rocking the GRAMMYS (Rock) -- Host Debbie Calton, of WMGK-FM Philadelphia, will highlight this year's rock nominees and feature new and exclusive interviews with Santana, who is nominated for ten awards, and a special tribute to Elton John, the Musicares Person of the Year, and recipient of this year's GRAMMY Legend Award. Carlton will also feature the music of nominees Tom Petty, Jeff Beck, Sting and Eric Clapton and some of the rock artists who have made it into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame: the Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan and The Beatles.

GRAMMY Values Tour (Alternative) -- Host Axel, of 99X FM Atlanta, will offer an in-depth look at this year's Best Alternative Music Performance nominees: Fatboy Slim, Beck, Moby, Nine Inch Nails and Tori Amos. He will also play new songs from past GRAMMY winners such as: U2, R.E.M., Rage Against the Machine and Smashing Pumpkins. Some of the songs to be featured are: Kid Rock's ``Only God Knows Why'', Korn's ``Freak On A Leash'', Lenny Kravitz's ``American Woman'', Nine Inch Nails' ``Into The Void'', Moby's ``Bodyrock'' and Smash Mouth's ``All Star''.

GRAMMY Jam 2000 (Urban) -- The Baka Boys, morning team at ``The Beat'' 106 FM Los Angeles, will highlight this year's GRAMMY nominated R&B and hip-hop records. There will also be interviews with some of this year's nominated artists including: Puff Daddy, Maxwell and Macy Gray. Some of the songs to be featured are: R. Kelly's ``When A Woman's Fed Up'', TLC's ``No Scrubs'', Whitney Houston's ``It's Not Right But It's Okay'', Eminem's ``My Name Is'', Will Smith's ``Wild Wild West'', Mary J. Blige & Aretha Franklin's ``Don't Waste Your Time'' and many more.

Country GRAMMY Nominations Radio Special (Country) -- Hosted by GRAMMY winning singer/songwriter Steve Wariner, the Country GRAMMY Nominations Radio Special will feature the songs and artists nominated this year in the GRAMMY Country categories. Highlights will include interviews with this year's country GRAMMY nominees: Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Diamond Rio, Vince Gill, SHeDAISY, Lonestar, Alabama and Clint Black, who will all talk about the songs that have earned them nominations. Wariner will also play some of this past year's biggest country hits including: the Dixie Chicks' ``Ready to Run'', Tim McGraw's ``Please Remember Me'', Shania Twain's ``Man! I Feel Like A Woman'', Faith Hill's ``Let Me Let Go'' and Diamond Rio's ``Unbelievable''.

GRAMMYS 2000 (Adult Contemporary) -- Host Don Blue, of K101 FM San Francisco, will feature the music from GRAMMY winning artists, past GRAMMY highlights and interviews with this year's nominees. Among the artists and songs to be featured are: Cher (``Believe''), Backstreet Boys (``I Want It That Way''), Gloria Estefan & 'N Sync (``Music Of My Heart''), Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey (``When You Believe''), Brian McKnight (``Back At One''), Sixpence None The Richer (``Kiss Me''), Donna Summer (``I Will Go With You'') and Shania Twain (``You've Got A Way'').

Smooth Jazz GRAMMY Special (Smooth Jazz) -- Host Michael Tozzi, Music Director of WJJZ-FM Philadelphia, will highlight this year's smooth jazz nominees which will include acclaimed pianist David Benoit, who is nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the category of Best Instrumental Composition. Brian McKnight and Diana Krall will also offer their reactions to their multiple nominations. In addition, previous GRAMMY winners will be featured, including Tom Scott, Lee Ritenour and Kenny G as well as past nominees Dave Koz, Craig Chaqico and Joe Sample.

The Classical GRAMMY Gala (Classical) -- James Bartel, evening host at WGMS-FM Washington, D.C., will host a night of great classical music and interviews with this year's GRAMMY nominees. Among the artists to be highlighted are: Michael Tilson Thomas, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Gil Shaham, Robert Shafer and Hilary Hahn. The Classical GRAMMY Gala will also feature some of this year's nominated works, including Bartok's Violin Concerto #2, Mahler's Symphony #1 and Beethoven's Violin Concerto.
