However, I also find the article very disturbing. It seems odd to me how Jive treats them like animal waste, when they've made that record company so much money I can't even wrap my mind around it in a sense. And Jive pressuring them to release 'Chapter One' was the worst thing they could have done. Releasing that album stopped another single from coming from 'Black & Blue', which meant less radio play for the album, and subsequently, less albums sold. Now all I hear on MTV is how much of a disappointment the album was...and 'can the Backstreet Boys have another hit record'? ((oh give me a break John Norris!!)) The record company clearly had $$ signs in it's eyes, as always. I also find it incredibly stupid that 'Black & Blue' is considered a failure. If it were an album from someone else, and it sold as many copies as it did, it would be considered a huge success. Something else worrying me, is that one of their current managers even mentioned a line-up change. I'm sorry, but this wouldn't happen. If one decided to leave, I am more than certain that the group wouldn't be around anymore. And as someone who is managing their careers, he needs to think twice before saying things like that... He's probably the next one to screw them over, all in a matter of time. I do believe that marriage had an effect on their status, as well as AJ's visit to Rehab. However, I don't believe that these things have caused people to lose interest, as previously mentioned in other posts. Kevin and Brian's marriages made some fans a little unhappy, but they seemed to get over it...and the ones who didn't, ultimately left their fanship when they left behind their Spice Girl dolls. AJ overcoming his problems in my opinion was a great thing, and to say that his getting help has turned fans away is like saying that Elvis' death has turned fans away. HELLO, the King isn't dead, well, depending on who you ask, but I wasn't speaking in a literal sense. Why can't it be: once a Backstreet Fan, always a Backstreet Fan? Like the Beatles, or Elvis. I want my children, and my grandchildren to know who Backstreet Boys are. What's wrong with longevity? And why doesn't everyone believe enough in BSB to think that they will have this? Everyone has an opinion but I for one do not agree with this person's point of views. But us fans who are here because we love the boys and the work they do as well as respect them are the only people who can make a difference. All the critics in the world could say they suck and are washed up and stuff like that but it is us, the fans, who will really decide that. Clint Black has TWO greatest hits albums out, and he's still big. Kenny Chesney has one out, and he's at the top of his career right now. You expect me to take the word of a third party voice? An outsider that takes what he/she heard from this person, and then whatever they heard from others, and then puts it all together in their own 'thought of' version... I will not. The undoing of the Backstreet Boys.. Puh-leez. The so-called bad sales the boys have had would be top sales to most other artists. Because they have their own identity and views, and are not doing the "right" things in the business, they are finished. Yeah, RIGHT. Now, when I say "right", I mean they aren't out there playing kissy kissy with the media, or making one replica album after another(like Britney and N'sync). They've taken chances and yes, have made mistakes, but I have faith that they'll pull through. We fans have said it before, and I'll say it again because it is true. The BSB have been through ten times as much as your Britneys and N'syncs. If they(BSB) really want the group to work and continue, it will, but they have to want to do that and I believe they do. Their last single, Drowning, was a top ten song --World Wide--, an IMPROVEMENT from their Black and Blue singles. The up and coming album is said to be a whole new direction for the Boys and they are trying to do things the way they had wanted to on Black and Blue. The solo deal with Nick I agree, has to have caused some tensions, but they have always said they would pursue things on their own, OUTSIDE of the group. What is the big surprise? No one is signaling the end of N'sync because of Justin's solo deal, and N'sync doesn't seem to be a very tight knit group. I can recall more instances where there were appearances by only a few members, rather than the whole, save for performances. Always seemed to be Lance, Joey, and Chris. Justin and JC were absent a lot. But I get off my point. I ask you how many times media know-it-alls have predicted BSB's demise? They called it before Millennium, before Black and Blue, and now again, before this album. Hell, how many times has the media called the demise of many of the bands and solo acts that are still here today? For some reason, Madonna comes to mind. None of the media could stand her in the beginning of her career, but now she is seen as one of the greats. I listen to and believe the media as far as I can throw Joey Fatone. I listen to what comes out of Kevin's, Nick's, Howie's, AJ's, and Brian's mouths and nothing else. If they say they are done, then I'll believe it. Never before or from anyone else. THey never would have been lost if it wasn't for the greed and selfishness of other suck@ss human beings.Backstreet opened the pop world back up for the 90's and people don't realize that. Yes, "Black and Blue" sold big numbers, but the sucess was overlooked because of the sucess of *NSYNC's record. Releasing "Chapter One" I believe was a big mistake. The whole idea of a greatest hits package so soon is silly. I worry about Nick and his solo project in general. You have to wonder how the rest of the guys really feel about this. Sometimes I'm scared we may never see a new backstreet record. How many times has this album been bumped up? Now they're saying the beginning of next year? Come on now! Nick's album comes out in October and he wants to do a tour too. So, when are they gonna find time early next year to cram a group album into the mix? Don't get me wrong, I love my boys so much, but I must admit I'm worried. I've heard these break-up rumors for years now, and it has never bothered me before. But, it does now. I just hope I wrong. I think that in this day and age with the Internet and fans being so vocal about various things that people are not kept as in the dark as when I was younger. I was a fan of Leif Garrett when I was younger and am sure that many of your saw his Behind the Music program on VH-1 if not catch it next time it is on. My point being is I had no idea what this guy went through. As any fan of the Backstreet Boys we take the good with the bad and that is part of life and I think it is great that the younger fans know how things work in the world of entertainment and it doesn't just happen in music it happens in all things entertainment. Life isn't all rosey in Hollywood and that is good thing for people of any age to know. I know that makes me appreciate the Backstreet Boys even more for their tenacity to continue to bring us all quality music and to continue to be a group in general. As for the Backstreet Boys continuing as a group as we know it or continuing at all well, like many good things there comes a time to end it...as we have known it...but that doesn't mean that is the end all together.
