I agree with Joyce from WA also.
No matter what anyone says or writes no matter how much experts they say they are I wont care! I am 22 years old and I will always appriciate BSB's music no matter what happends to them. I will always listen to their music, and I will always be happy for whatever decicions they make in their life. Weather it is getting children getting married or making a solo album.

I will not let BSB down after being a fan for 7 years.

This article just shows how insensitive and manipulative record and management companies can be just to make themselves money. It makes me angry to think that the Backstreet Boys have been treated in such a way, and they will only be the tip of the iceberg. I can't understand why they put up with such treatement, or why they didn't tell us, the fans, what was going on. If I knew they didn't want to release a Hits album, i wouldn't have bought it and I'm sure many others would be the same. The truth about what goes on behind the scence in record companies should be revealed to everyone, as things like this shouldn't be allowed to happen to anyone. I just hope that, with the support from the fans, Backstreet will make it through these obstacles and go on for many more years.

I agree with Joyce WA USA. We have here in Australia the tall poppy syndrome. This is where people are built up by the media as something special only to be torn down once they become big. The fact that there are so many detrimental articles on the boys just shows how big they really are. I believe that they will come back bigger and better than ever. They just need time to re-group and get back on track. Have faith and be ready to show your support. I am a 30 year old fan and have been since 1997. They are one of the few groups, like ABBA, that I will love forever.

I was somewhat sadned by this article, but it surely wasn't a bad one. It just shows again what kind of industry it can be. You either work like a machine making millions of dollars (of which you're not even gonna see much) and lose your identity, or hit the road...as cold and hard as that. And the media's there just to create conflict and friction. To think these guys have endured all this and more, broken free and kept on truckin, is just admirable to me. They've showed everyone that they're not the "throw in the towel" kinda band.
I personally think they still got years to come and we definitely haven't heard the last of them.

hey, this is annie here...
well...what can i say? alot of the info may be true..but what they said about backstreet isn't true. backstreet aint backstreet without all five members...we all know that is true. so who cares what he or anyone else thinks...seriously. we know and love them...for who they are, what music they produce and the band they are so that should be all that matters!

Hey! I read that article on my e-mail about two days ago. I think that suck that the media think like that about the boys. Personally I really don’t care what people say about them( The Media). But deep inside my heart, I think it was low from the New York Times. Since 1993, the Backstreet Boys being into ups and downs. Like Brian’s heart surgery, deaf of some family members and friends, A.J in rehab and Nick with is problem with the law (You all know what I am talking about. No need to say more). But that doesn't mean that the Backstreet Boys are over. I know that every fairytales got to have an end on each story. And am sure that “dude” want to beat them down because they not in the public eye that much to protect they self . But As long that WE AS FANS are going to Keep The Backstreet Pride Alive, they music will still live on. That one, am positive about that.

So Keep That Pride Alive like we always do and am sure that the Backstreet Boys will kick some butts (Like some Boy Band that I’m think about right now *lol*).

P.S: Sorry for those fans who like that band that I’m talking about in the in that last part. Just an int. if you really want to know it’s starts like that "N_ _ _ _ ".

In someways I agree with the articles and is other ways I don't. I do believe they were puppets in the beginning, but now they have pretty much broken away from that. I also understand bsb wants to move on. I just feel they have two choices: 1. If they want to stay in the market they should stay with the sound they already have, or 2. do what they want to sound like but face the fact that they will not be as popular as they once were.
I hope they stay together through it all and do it simply for the love of music. So if their album does not sell as well, they should get upset over it; but know that the true fans will ALWAYS be there for them.

BSB has real talent and that will keep them going. Because to me they will always be larger than life!

okay first off, the haven't released a single in a while neither has N SYNC that doesn't mean the bsb are fading! And the whole thing with Aj going into rehab made most of us love the band even more for telling the truth and not making us have to hear about it from bad press! Nick's arrest made let us know that their people just like us who get into trouble and mess up, but as long as you recognize your problem thats fine! Every year they say "bsb are breaking up!" but they've stayed strong for 7 years and I won't believe their giving up til I hear it from them!

This article is pretty sad. I will never understand how people can just write off the guys as if they never made a mark in the music industry. To compare them to N'Sync is pretty unfair in my eyes, there is no comparison. I am just going to follow the guys as usual and whatever their decision may be, I will accept that. I understand their need to finally close a chapter in their life and start a new one. Everyone wants to live a 'normal' life. I will continue to support the guys 100 percent as any true fan should. The guys aren't dying out, to me, they are just getting better. Pop music lives.

I am not going to complain about this, nor am I going to make a big fuss. The truth is that some (and I say some!) fans are not making it a point to really get out there to support these guys. I know I for one am always incorporating BSB in to my every day life. At some points I thought it was a very bogus article, but it was really probably more fact. But you never want to jump to conculsions, the new album is going to be awesome. BSB will push to the top, once again like they always do. When they go on TRL there will be a million fans waiting outside. Nick is not going to leave BSB, AJ did why can't Nick I think that every one should make it a point to voice you opinoin to ppl and not be afaird to get yelled back at. *N SYNC is down a hole right what if they happen to lose Lance. SO don't afarid to say "I love BSB and I con't care what you say about them."

Why is everyone so mad at the New York Times for this article?? It's not from an opinion or a gossip colum, it's *pure fact.* It's a harsh reality that the Boys are in a bad place professionally, personally, and commercially. All we can do is continue to be the best fans of any band in the business. And that's it. The guys have to figure this one out on their own, and its their move.

this article clearly states the point that it's about making money. companies will continue to base their decisions on what will generate the highest profit. like it or not, it's a reality. companies are driven by the almighty dollar. sales continue to dictate the direction management companies take with their artists. if the artist doesn't sell, the company doesn't make money. if they company doesn't make money, they go out of business. this is why many artists are creating their own record lables. this allows them to have complete creative control.

as the article clearly states, it's a difficlt and tough business which unfortunatly not all artists have allot of control over.

regardless, i for one, will always be a fan and anxiously await their new cd!

This article really pissed me off. I know everyone in pop music has their times of trouble... but the BSB have come out on top always... no matter what they've been through. Sure, age and future plans might interfere some... but we all know that the BSB are here to stay! I can't wait for the new album and the guys STILL ROCK! I'll be a BSB fan until the day I die and I pray that all of the other BSB fans will agree... if not than I respect your opinions. Feel free to drop me a line some time...

Everyone has their moments of positives and negatives. I think articles like these like to focus more on the negatives because it sells publications & it must not be cool to admire success. Whatever the negative slant/intent, this piece only solidifies the fact that Backstreet is here for the long haul. If they weren't, why even bother writing an article on them? Who's going to care if no one else does, right? I read these things all the time, and I always laugh. Every negative article is always about "Trouble In Backstreet Paradise." How are they any different than groups like NSYNC? Justin also has a solo album coming out, Joey is a father, and Lance will blast off into space...I don't see anyone writing on their "demise" because each individual has outside projects. If BSB have come "undone," they sure are receiving much attention still.

I'm a 25 year old fan and have been since they "blew up" in Europe & nothing has kept me from appreciating their music. I wasn't sad when Brian and Kevin married. I was happy for them, just as I am whenever anyone tells me they just got married. Their music to me has always been about being real - experiencing all aspects of love. Their wanting to live a normal life makes them more credible to me as people not too obsessed with the shallow-ness around them. I would never put my life on hold just to further an image/product/lifestyle. Why should they be any different? I will always appreciate their music no matter what they experience in their own lives - through heart surgeries, rehab stints, marriages, solo careers, children, movie careers, charity involvement, record producing...you name it. And, I know I'm not alone in feeling that way, so let those articles keep on coming. We'll still be here.
