I waited for the album. I rushed to the store to get the album. I laughed and cried with the album. What's left, you ask? My review of the album. Strictly for your reading pleasure, here it is:
NICK CARTER - NOW OR NEVER
#1) Help Me - Ah, the perfect first single. This song skillfully combines a different pop and fresh rock vibe to produce a very catchy tune. Nick's voice sounds refreshing and honest. The lyrics are meaningful and realistic - people can relate to it. Great song!
#2) My Confession - A Nick written tune. This song sounds very genuine and captures Nick's essence. I love the whole "I wanna breathe you...I wanna see what you see when you cry those tears" part. It has potential to become the next single. Nick's voice sounds especially good near the end in that computerized/quiet part.
#3) I Stand For You - A truly rockin' beat! Again, congrats for the writing skills, Nick! You cannot help but bob your head to this and rock to it in your room! It is very, very carefree and very enjoyable to listen to. A definite favorite on my list.
#4) Do I Have To Cry For You - This song does not take long to grow on you. Nick's voice sounds incredible here. Very raw, emotional, and convincing. I heard he wrote this song in the bathtub. Wow, that takes skills! *ok, now I have a mental picture of Nick in the bathtub, oh Lordy, that's not good...must focus...* Back to the review, this song is very Bryan Adams......lush melody and all.
Warning: the chorus tends to be stuck in your head for hours!
#5) Girls in The USA - Ok, props to Nick for thinking of his US fans, but the song is somewhat a cliche of a heavy metal/rock song a la Kid Rock. I don't really enjoy it and tend to skip over it a lot. The beat is a little redundant and annoying. Plus, who the heck is Mr. Vegas? lol...he does NOT fit in with the song at all. Next!
#6) I Got You - Love the beat and the lyrics. So basically, I love the entire song. It has some deep lyrics and I especially love the part, "Maybe I'm in too deep...but I don't care!" For some reason it reminds me of “The One (BSB), except it's like the reverse. He is not apprehensive because he's got somebody there who loves him. Am I making sense? lol....moving right along...
#7) Is It Saturday Yet? - Ok, Nick sweetie....WHAT THE HECK IS THIS SONG TALKING ABOUT? For the life of me, I cannot seem to decipher it. All I know is that it sounds like something his little brother, Aaron Carter, would sing and frankly, that cannot be good for Nick and where he SHOULD be at right now *I can see the hate mail pouring in! lol* Why does he have to go and bring Jerry Springer into the argument? I am so confused! And the beat is very Aaronish too! Not good! Instead of this song, "End of Forever" should have been put here in this precise spot. *digs out "Help Me" single*
8) Blow Your Mind - This is HARD CORE alternative, people! Now that's what I'm talking about!!! YES, YES, YES! You could play this song and people would assume - if they didn't know it was our blonde babe already - that this was a new punk or alternative band. Awesome stuff! The guitar work is fierce but it still does not overshadow Nick's gorgeous voice. I love the whole, "Girl, I saw you dancing, I'm looking like trash, but still you're glancing" *Nick looking like trash? Right, and Lance Bass is playing golf on the moon right about now!* Play this song super LOUD for your neighbors to hear, it will drive them crazy!! Hee heee...
#9) Miss America - Hands down, THE best track on the entire album. Words cannot describe how much I love this song. Basically, this song spells out S-E-X and I'm loving it, just because we haven't been exposed to that side of Nick yet and, let me tell ya, it is HOT. This sounds like a sultry Lenny Kravitz song. The whole "Take it off, take it off, let's get it on, get it on" part is absolutely fantastic. This has to become a single at some point in time...Nick would get a whole bunch more girls chasing him for this song *as if he needs more, lol*. The beat is simply captivating and the lyrics can make you forget everything around you except the sexy, sexy voice of Mr. Carter.
Warning: do not operate heavy machinery while listening to this song. Eyes will glaze over and drool will appear *lol*
#10) I Just Wanna Take You Home - This song screams "Blink - 182" and I love it. The guitars on it are totally awesome....they make you wanna shout "ROCK ON, NICK!" The concept is pretty funny and it would be hilarious to see Nick in such a situation...meeting the girl's parents while thinking: “When am I gonna score with her?” all the while *lol*. Not that Nick ever would, he doesn't seem like the type. He's just too much of a sweetie for that, but it is still pretty amusing!
#11) Heart Without a Home (I'll Be Yours) - It seems to me that this song has a little bit of a country influence to it. The music is very soft and soothing. This would be the ideal song to pop in your CD player when you are having a bad day and feel as if nobody cares about you. It has the power to heal. Very sweet song.
#12) Who Needs the World - In my opinion, the best ballad/slow song on the album. Every woman on the planet would melt if their significant other would sing something like this to them. I nearly burst into tears at how beautiful it is. Nick's voice is once again perfect here. *Sigh* Especially as demonstrated in the line "All I want is you tonight". Just perfect. The perfect ending to a perfect album.
OVERALL:
This album did not disappoint me one bit. I was actually a tad surprised at how well it captures Nick's emotions and ability to rock, yet make you swoon over the beauty of his sincere voice. In my opinion, 10/12 songs (83% of the album) are pure genius and well worth the money. Most definitely worth it. Big props out to Nick. He should feel extremely proud of his work. ROCK ON, NICK!
