LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The following is a list of the 20 biggest-grossing North American concert tours of 1999, according to figures released Tuesday by Pollstar magazine.

1. Rolling Stones - $64.7 million

2. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band - $61.4 million

3. 'N Sync - $51.5 million

4. Dave Matthews Band - $48.5 million

5. Shania Twain - $40.8 million

6. Cher - $37.7 million

7. Backstreet Boys - $37.1 million

8. Elton John - $32.5 million

9. ``George Strait's Country Music Festival'' - $32.4 million

10. Bette Midler - $31.7 million

11. Bob Dylan/Paul Simon - $30.6 million

12. Phish - $27.4 million

13. Celine Dion - $26.9 million

14. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - $26.7 million

15. Jimmy Buffett - $24.5 million

16. Ricky Martin - $22.6 million

17. John Mellencamp - $21.3 million

18. ``Lilith Fair'' - $21.2 million

19. Rod Stewart - $20.8 million

20. Billy Joel - $20.5 million

NOTE: The Rolling Stones charged the highest average ticket price for a rock act, $109.62, while the 84th-ranked Poison/Ratt double bill had the lowest in the top 100, $18.06; Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band had the highest average gross, $3.4 million; 'N Sync played the most shows, 121, and sold the most tickets, 1.8 million. The biggest gross was the nearly $28.9 million generated by the Woodstock 1999 festival. The biggest single concert gross was the Three Tenors' $6.1 million take from Detroit's Tiger Stadium, while Springsteen pulled in $19 million from 15 dates at New Jersey's Meadowlands Arena.
