Floyd can't beat Backstreet

THE ZIETGEIST, The Spirit of the Times Vol. XXXV, No. 1 Miami Springs Senior High 751 Golden Hawk Drive Miami Springs, FL 33166 November 1999 By Melissa Melendez, Photography Editor Due to Hurricane Floyd, the Backstreet Boys' Millenium Tour, scheduled for September 14th and 15th at the National Car Rental Center, was postponed for December 5th and 6th. Since the beginning of the tour, the hype had been exciting the masses of fans. Sears Corporation presented the Backsteet Boys' "Into the Millenium Tour" with a contest that allowed fans to go shopping with their favorite Backstreet Boy. Also, if $30 was spend at any Sears location, you were given a poster and a limited edition CD. Sears was making sure that all BSB fans would look forward to this tour. Tickets went on sale in early August at all Ticket Master locations and at the National Car Rental Center in South Florida. Fans crowded around stores in hopes of getting the chance to watch Brian Littrell, Kevin RIchardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean in concert. Most slept over knowing that the concert would sell out quickly. They were right. In approximately 15 minutes, the concert set for Sept. 15th was sold out. Hundreds of fans were disappointed. Shortly after the first show sold out, another concert date was scheduled for Sept. 14th. Now, more lucky fans were able to go and view the performers. As the concert grew nearer, so did hurricane Floyd. The hurricane and concert were both scheduled to hit. However, as irony has it, neither his South Florida. THe concert was cancelled the same day the storm drifted away. Fans need not be disappointed, since the concert was rescheduled and the Backstreet Boys will be back in South Florida on December 5th and 6th. BSB fans that were able to get tickets will be allowed to use the same tickets purchased for either of the upcoming dates. Comment on this item.
