Diana's Review: 11/12/99 Ottawa, ON

Sorry it to so long to come up with this review but we've been very busy this past week and I do have three kids (and John) to deal with. Anyway, on with the review. I attended the Backstreet Boys performance in Ottawa Friday, November 12 and it was AMAZING!!! The Backstreet Boys are extremely hard-woking, committed, talented, delightful young men. Their dedication to their craft as well as to their fans was clear as they gave another energetic, thrilling performance in the gruelling schedule that is the Millennium tour. I figure (and this is just a guess) that to enable all the people who want to see the Backstreet Boys at least once on this tour world-wide the Boys would have to perform three times a day for the next 247 years, 5 months and 12 days. It is a TREMENDOUS show! The Boys manage to engage the audience and charm them totally while singing and dancing their way through a complicated, vibrant peformance. Their obvious enjoyment of what they are doing is infectious. I have to say that I was kind of relieved that Caitlin was in another section and couldn't see her Mom jumping up and down like a maniac, singing and waving to the Boys and Tommy. She, of course was doing the same things I was with a bunch of her friends and having a deliriously wonderful time. It's important to not overlook Tommy Smith and the Backstreet Boys Band. They provide a brilliant foil for the Boys. This group of excellent musicians also have to pull out all the stops to keep it fresh and exciting night after night. By the way I thought Tommy looked splendid in his white tails and it was an utter delight to meet him. Another crucial part of the team effort are the dancers who make a strong contribution to the visual feast. John and I have been to a number of concerts by a variety of artists but this performance was truly spectacular. Kevin, A.J, Howie, Brian and Nick are wonderful, talented, endearing, lovely to look at and, like everyone else I love them all. The bottom line for me though is that the songs, the performances, and the music are GREAT and I will go to see them in concert again as soon as I possibly can. K.T.B.P.A!
