Ah, the joy of being a Backstreet Boy.

They live in a world of screaming girls, sell-out concerts and million-dollar pay days.

But teen fans are fickle and today's Nick Carter could be tomorrow's Leif Garret. Sooner or later, age catches up with all teen idols, just ask Fabian, Bobby Sherman, the Monkees, David Cassidy, Donny Osmond and the New Kids On The Block.

One day you're on the cover of Tiger Beat and the next week it's a "Where Are They Now" special on VH1.

What does the future hold for the Backstreet Boys? With tongue firmly in cheek, let's look into our crystal ball:

2003: In the third year of the new millennium, the Backstreet Boys officially announce their break-up. With slumping album sales and dwindling concert appearances, the aging "boys" - Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson - say they will pursue solo careers.

2007: The Backstreet Boys reunite for a small East Coast theater and club tour, but ticket sales are disappointing. The Boys play the Majestic Theater in Buffalo but only about 50 people turn up. After the concert the group sell copies of their latest CD, "Backstreet Boys II Men," from a special booth set up in the parking lot. A cold rain sends them scampering back to their Ford Explorer.

2015: A wave of '90s nostalgia sweeps the nation. The Backstreet Boys headline a package tour featuring Christine Aguilera, the Spice Girls, Color Me Badd, Jordan Knight and 'N Sync. They play two nights at Shea's Performing Arts Center.

2019: The Backstreet Boys are still going strong, playing in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. The Boys' yearly cruise, "See the Caribbean with the Boys," is sold out months in advance.

2029: A cast of unknown youngsters star in the made-for-TV movie, "I Was a Teen-age Backstreet Boy." "These kids were super," says tenor Mel Tunden, who joined the group 10 years ago. "They look just like we used to look, and they got the dance moves down, too."

2046: The Backstreet Boys celebrate their fifth decade in show business with the "Old Boys, New Tricks" Tour, playing to packed houses on the retirement community circuit in southern Florida.
