okay you know have everyone seems to have a fetish with labeling the backstreet boys as a "boy band" but lets take a minute and decide what a boy band really is....

Is a band not a group of people that play instruments? the backstreet boys don't and yes I know that can, but that isn't what they get paid to do.okay now so that imideiately eliminates the "band" factor but now lets look at someone else..

hm KoRn they are a band are they not? and they are guys or "boys"

so who is really the "boy band"? don't get me wrong i love limp, and korn but i also love the backstreet boys and i just don't like when people clal them a "boy band" when as you can see by our lil' evaluation they are not.

I have to say a lot about what's been going on during this Backstreet Era!

I was browsing through the Backstreet[.Net] Bulletin and I saw an article's headline [The Backstreet Boys are still not my favorite boy band!] by Papa Boner. I think the article is absolutely (sorry, I'm a lousy speller) right. All the things you hate were really reasonable especially the dissing g/f's and rumors stuff. I hate girls who always claimed to be Nick's Wife or Brian's Wife or something and forbid other girls to be a bigger fan or wanted the boys to stay single [for them]..

All I mean is, it's up to the boys about who's gonna be their soulmate for life.. We are fans, we have to respect them. There must be a good reason why they are with somebody who they think they can spend their lives with.. So why should you stop them from having girlfriends? Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine how would you feel if you're a famous celebs, and you're with someone who you loved and cared most but your fans kept dissing your loved one over and over and claimed to "kill" them. Even Nick had to ask the fans not to throw objects to one of their dancers, Amy, who the fans thought was his girlfriend [Mandy] because it isn't worth it only ruins their schedules because one of the dancers is injured. So think before you diss the girlfriends - is there any benefit of that? Think!

I also agreed that the Boys perform some really unique stuff. I heard lots of complains about their appearance in 99999 MTV VMA and I think it's really unfair. Their unpredictable appearance at the prestigious award was symbolized that they are not just another music group... they're somebodies with their own identity and own style. Every member represent their own self and do whatever they want just as long as it's not over the limits. I must say congratulations to AJ for his totally-far-out clothes. It's not something you can find on the street you know!

I've been a fan since they started and I must say their talents and harmonies really matured from time to time. If you don't believe me, compare Nick's voice from "Let's Have A Party" with "I Need You Tonight" and you'll agree with me! And what's so good about it is that even though their bigger than ever right now, they've never forgot their base and who are them. I've never seen they went big-headed with their fame and popularity. In fact, all I've ever seen is their humble and down-to-earth attitude. Come on, the guys make mistake - they're not God or perfect like Him, they're humans just like us. So why do fans departed their love for BSB when they made a single mistake? I don't think that's fair to the Boys themselves.

Like Neil Papa, I also hoped that the new millennium will see the Boys take at least one award from each music awards - from MTV to Grammy - every single one! They deserved all these appreciation after all of their hard works, their totally-obvious talent and all the problems they've coped with. Their talent is already been proved by their hot-selling album, Millennium, which debuted at #1 on the first week, recording 1.13 units sold and broke records of some respective artists like Garth Brooks and Whitney Houston.

Backstreet vs. 'N Sync - isn't that a tiring issue we all should get rid off? Even though we all were pissed about the Jive issue, I think we should respect every talented artists. 'N Sync are a bunch of guys who also sing harmonizing tunes well, so they should considered as respective. Can't we just rest the case that 'N Sync is copying the BSB or the either way?

I read Lou Pearlman's formula to make a successful group - the group must contain a serious one, a joker, a young cute one, a funky one and a peaceful one. From my point of view, I think that formula doesn't always work. I don't think BSB has so many fans because of this so-called formula. Talent is the thing that comes first and the BSB have it. That explains why they have so many aspiring fans to like them and to make their tour tickets sell like hotcakes.

When the Canadian BSB fans complained about their tour dates, I think it's unfair. I'm a Malaysian (Asian) and they haven't tour here since the past two years and I didn't complain. I know how much catching up they have to do in the States and I coped with that. Hopefully they'll stop by next year but if they didn't.. that's okay.

I guess that all I needed to blab. To Neil, I hope you'll publish Part III (*smile*) 'cause your brought up some issues we need to fix! Thanks for reading this! If you'd like to respond to this article, you can send me an e-mail hpage_stuff@hotmail.com

I have seen some wonderful fans popping up on this bulletin board, and i think thats great, I hope the backstreet boys read this and know they have versitile fans, (unlike what mag's usually say, like were all 12 yr old blondes) cuz I'm a black bsb fan, i may be young but thats not my fault, (14 btw) I'm very mature, im not a teenybopper, but we all get stereotyped as that simply because we can appreciate all types of music. I am not the type of fan who wants to stalk BSB, know all their business, or rips out their grass, earrings etc. I just really appreciate them. I have grown with them and it's a very special unique thing, I usually never have this experience with very many artist, but the bsb were perfect for me, i caught on to them at the perfect time in my life and i will always love them for the rest of my life. Okay I will admit that I used to think I would marry one of them, but I'm way passed that stage.. I know that I will not, I am wayyy to young, and They all have someone special by now, i accept that it's their life. I really appreciate them as people and as musical artist, they are the most talented so called "boy group" out their, i don't care if you think N sync is cuter, (they aren't) I talking about talent, Not only do they write, and produce, and vocal arrange, and sing awesome live they play instruments, compose songs, and even BRIAN concducted a orchestra for his Perfect fan song! You can't tell me they aren't talented, and they don't deserve all the fame they have gotten. I am wayy too in *love* with the BSB, but i cant help it, they are the nicest people i have ever saw, they are soo great and sweet just the little things they do. I don't actually love love love them cuz i don't know them I love them the way a FAN loves a musical artist, I respect them soo much and I truly honor them. I hope to god they will stay around for years to come and prove all those haters wrong, cuz i don't know what i would do without them. I know it sounds so crazy but it's what i really feel. I was soo depresse d, my Dad was a drunken abuser and we had just moved away from him, and I was at a school I hated, I felt so horrible and sad, nothing in my life had the ability to cheer me up so i could become a better person. My family isn't real emotional, and they were all so busy with their lives. I felt alone and sooo depressed, self pity and everything. Once i started liking the backstreet boys 1 year or so ago, i was a whole new person *crying* They were the only thing that could cheer me up, all i have to do still to this day is look at them or listen to those voices and I feel better and I deal with life situations alot better. I wonder where i would be if they hadn't come along?? Their gorgeous voices make me cry sometimes when they are singing a emotional song, like no other artist can. I just appreciate them so much.. they are soo amazing almost too good to be true. I mean they have changed my life soo much, and I am such a better person now, i actually love myself and the way I am, something i never did before. I had such low self esteem. Not anymore I have myself TUPAC SHAKUR and BACKSTREET BOYS to thank for that, I am sunshine now, i am sooo goofy and soo silly , i got tons of friends, i'm just happy with myself now, I actually found the real me deep down, god knows how long it would have took or if it would have happened without the backstreet boys interveiws, inspirational words, and angelic voices, and all around VIBE. I can't thank them enough. I wish them continued success, everyone can try to HATE on BSB (britney spears, joey mcintyre, entertainment weekly ETC) but they can't STOP the backstreet boys. I don't get to see them in concert* i swear i so need that right now I really do, but I will have to deal with it, I'd give my right arm to go though! If I ever got to meet them..... i can't even imagine! *on a lighter note there is a site, that is made by a male bsb fan, and has a male fan FAN CLUB, i think bsb would really appreciate this, the site is:

http://bwbb.nickcarter.net/

anyways EVERYONE K.T.B.S.P.A I can't beleive how many great fans BSB have we should all give ourselves a BIG pat on the BACK.!!!!:) And i'm sure some BSB fans out there can relate to this message! ... i hope!

We Love you Backstreet Boys !

Well, I know you're all getting sick of me, but it's Jennifer from the reviews, and I'm just asking that you hear me out. I feel like I'm a sucker for punishment, writing this message, after all the hate mail I recieve.

My reviews such as the one for the 99 VMA's and Larger Than Life are, to say the least, very critical. I poke fun at a lot of things, but in the beginning of each one, I state that I AM, in fact, a fan, not a "Backstreet-Basher". The reviews are written all in fun, trying to get maybe a laugh, or perhaps a chuckle from the fun-loving, equally critical fans, to the more conservative and mature ones. They are jokes, and strictly my opinion with periodic additions of opinions similar to my own.

However, with all that said, I still get hate-mail telling me that I am "disturbed", "superficial", and not a "real fan". This, I cannot figure out.

I know you're all asking what's the point of this, and here it is;

I am entitled to my opinion as you are entitled to yours, and it is not necessary to insult me and email me telling me off because I chose to state my view, you have as equal a chance as I to do so. If you think their video is "super duper awesome" or "the best video you've ever seen in like your entire life", go write your own review, but before you email me and tell me off for exaggerating the truth and trying to make you laugh, read the whole review, even the part where I say I like them.

The simple fact is I haven't let them brainwash me into thinking they're "so totally perfect", because, frankly, they're not. No one is perfect, we all have our bad days...weeks...months...years...lifetimes...(oh, you get the drift), the Backstreet Boys, yes, the Backstreet Boys included.

I consider anyone who emails me, ragging me out about my reviews, immature and a Teenybopper. This is in the same classification of people who yell marriage proposals to them from the 28th row, and those who steal their personal belongings and their grass (and we ain't talkin' about AJ's weed). Do you really want to be a teenybopper??

My final point is it doesn't automatically make you not a "real fan" if you say they're not perfect, or poke fun at (exaggerate the truth) them...after all, as a wise Backstreet humour site owner once said, Real Fans Can Laugh.

If you need more proof than this that I am a fan, go ahead and email me, make yourself a teenybopper, and I'll send you pictures of me, my room and my sculpture (AJ voodoo head). Then you'll see you're the one who's wrong.

Sincerely,

Jennifer aka Ms. AJ Bone

PS: Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive, Crackers with attitude and all that good stuff!

Finally, after a LONG time of trying to figure out when someone would put something up that I can agree with. The 2 articles that I was reading today made me think about why everyone calls BSB a "boy band". I thought about it and I still dunno. Yes, they are male, but, so me, they AREN'T boys!!! Kevin's headed towards 30! (scary, isn't it?)They don't regularly play their own instruments. SO?! That's why they are called a "vocal harmony group"!!!I'm positive no one called out Boyz 2 Men about not playing their own instruments!

The whole thing about NSync and BSB at Jive is very stupid. Johnny Wright is a moron for saying that it's dangerous for BSB to say that they're leaving Jive b/c of NSync. WHY? I hate NSync. Most of thier fans are the BSB haters anyway!(Sorry to all the NSync and BSB lovers, I wasn't speaking of you)NSync makes fun of BSB and takes their ideas.(You want proof? Go talk to Tommy @bsbband.com)I'm proud of BSB for leaving Jive. Or at least trying to. NSync trys to be stealth but they just end up tripping over their own feet. They don't even know wether they own their name.

The thing about the music business basically always making fun of pop music and loving the angst of hard rock and alternative, is very bad. There was an article about how Limp Bizkit fit in better with the crowd and BSB couldn't even dress themselves. It made me quite mad, as most things do. Of course, the BSB aren't real men! NO! They can sing and dance and have TALENT! (Sarcasm)Now, don't get me wrong. I like Limp Bizkit and Korn, but when they start to compare and contrast the groups of different music, its make NO sense! BSB sing pop. Limp Bizkit...is alternative. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE people!

And one last thing before i go. This is my opinion. I'm sorry if you don't like it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Sorry once again if I upset you.

Augusta
