(U-WIRE) UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- It's 3:27 p.m. on a weekday afternoon in Times Square, New York City. Just outside of MTV Studios, a crowd of 100 to 300 teenagers and twenty-somethings has formed. Fans jockey for position as MTV's most watched program, Total Request Live, goes on the air. Chances are there may be a Penn State student in this crowd.

During the past few months, Penn State students have been flocking to MTV's only live show. Some hope to catch a glimpse of host Carson Daly. Others travel to see their favorite artists give interviews and performances. Many just want to get on national television. And still others want all three.

Viviana Valle (junior-advertising) went with friends Karen Ferrara (junior-film and video) and Juliana Wurzburger (junior-advertising) to the show last May when singer Ricky Martin made an appearance.

Though the group was forced across the street because of the massive crowd of crazed fans, Valle said she was content with the experience.

"He did his little dance in front of the window, and we were very satisfied," she said.

Lana Carbonara (freshman-division of undergraduate studies) was interviewed on-air by MTV VJ and R&B recording artist Tyrese during spring break.

"We rehearsed twice. He used cue-cards while I told him my favorite part of Monica's video for "Angel of Mine" was when he climbed up her fire escape," Carbonara said.

When all was said and done, she had an autographed picture of Tyrese in her possession.

Enthusiastic fans are an integral part of TRL.

"The fans are great energy for the show. We love them," said Deb Savo, producer of the program.

Total Request Live, now in the beginning of its third year, allows fans to vote for their favorite video online and by phone. The top ten most requested videos of the day are then put on the air. The Backstreet Boys' video for "I Want It That Way" holds the all-time record for longest run as the number one requested video.

"It's a fun show in the sense that we let the fans run it," said Savo.

The show, which was lengthened to 90 minutes in September, is on Monday through Friday at 3:30 p.m. Carson Daly has hosted the show from the start.

EewhXP Good info and straight to the point. I don't know if this is in fact the best place to ask but do you folks have any thoughts on where to get some professional writers? Thanks in advance :)
