Get ready to get dialing — you can even ask friends and family to try calling in, but... there can only be one winner per household. KISS 92 is proud to present the BACKSTREET BOYS November 11th at Skydome. Be listening (and dialing) every Thursday afternoon at 4 for your chance to win tickets to their sold out show. A KISS 92 representative will be on hand for 92 minutes and will give all cars, trucks, and bicycles in line a chance to win. Good luck to all the listeners!" 3:30 p.m.: I, a 17-year- old girl, in desperate need of Backstreet Boys tickets, listen attentively. Could there be a slim chance of actually obtaining a sacred pair? 3:59 p.m.: As 4 p.m. nears, I am glued to the radio. "The secret location is Ashbridges Bay! Come on down to the Coxwell and Lake Shore entrance for your chance to win!" 4:01 p.m.: A race to the truck begins. Seatbelts? Check. Engine's on? Check. Radio on? Check. Let's go! 4:10 p.m.: As I approach the heavenly location, an overwhelming amount of traffic consumes my vision. How could all these vehicles have arrived this quickly? 4:20 p.m.: The station reports that the traffic is CRRRRRAZZZY! Duh! I think I can kinda see that! 4:25 p.m.: Annoyance builds. There are three long lines of vehicles stretching from Woodbine Ave. to Queen St. to Yonge St., and everyone seems to be after a simple envelope that could contain "them.." 4:30 p.m.: We moved an inch! All right! I can already smell those front row seats! Wait...that was just the fumes from the car in front of me. 4:35 p.m.: A huge truck drives along the sidewalk in hopes of passing the right lane of traffic that is "supposed" to be exiting to the expressway. I begin to wonder if this is the best show I'm going to see. 4:45 p.m.: The police are here and they look pretty angry. I hope I'm imagining it, but...no...could it be? Barricades! No one else can enter the beach area! 4:55 p.m.: As the police attempt to direct traffic, a white van that has been waiting for about as long as I have, decides to act stubbornly. It refuses to move unless it is in the direction of acquiring some tickets. One police officer takes agrees and takes out his traffic ticket booklet. But before we knew it, the van had left. I guess he didn't want some tickets after all... 5:02 p.m.: As I drive home I vow never to do something that silly again. I mean they are just a group of singers. I declare that my phase of loving boy bands is over. I'm 17. I've got better things to do with my life...hey...did you hear that? A new song? By a Toronto group? And there's a good chance to actually see them walking down the street? Oh my, and I hear they're good-looking too.
