I've heard many complaints over the Internet and in newspapers and I'm tired of it. The complaints come from Canadians saying that this years tour schedule has only three Canadian venues. As a Canadian, I couldn't let this pass and I had to get on my soap box.

The Backstreet Boys are scheduled to preform three cities in only two provinces. (I will admit that the cities were poorly chosen; Vancouver should have been picked, not Ottawa) So you say it's not fair, after all, we were the first North Americans to "discover" the Backstreet Boys. Don't we deserve more of the Boys attention than Americans?

Well, the answer is no. Of course not, that's completely ludicrous. Come on fellow Canadians, we had the Boys for over two years before the Americans did. The Backstreet Boys have toured more in Canada than they have in their native country. They have only done a few small segement tours in the States while they've visited all of the provinces multiple times. We also have three Canadian CDs while the Americans only have two.

Another point, the U.S.A. is their home country, of course they would want to preform more there than anywhere else. Not to mention the fact that it is the largest worldwide market and the most important. Also, if you had bothered to look at the tour schedule you would have seen that many of the southern states have been left off the schedule as well. How do you think those fans feel? At least most Canadians live within an hour of the US border and we can get across to the US venues. What about those people who live down in the south of Texas who live closed to Mexico than a northern venue?

Maybe if you put yourself in someone else's shoes you would realize that us Canadians don't have it that bad. We get more songs, more merchandise and we've had a lot more time with the Boys. Let them spend time in their own country and quit complaining.

[and lets keep our fingers crossed and hope the spring 2000 tours pans out]
