I actually don't know what section u would put this in, if u put this up at all, but it is something i think people should know. furthermore, it raises an important topic for discussion.

I happened to be cruising the web looking for info on the bsb north american tour. i came across this website: http://www.tickets.cc/backstreetboysconcert.html which says they are taking advance orders for the tickets. i called the 1-800 # listed at the site and spoke to someone who told me that they still have no idea when the tickets will go on sale. i asked him what seemed to be the problem setting a tour date? other acts have set dates and are selling tickets for shows in october and november, while we can't get anything yet for september. the guy told me, surprise, surprise, that it was a money issue.

Please note that some Backstreet.net readers have called the number listed at the site and have been insulted by the staff members there... it seems that they're getting tired of BSB fans asking so many quetions and are asking that fans get their parents to call for them. Also, please note that Backstreet.net in no way endorses this outfit and has no information about their business practises so before ordering from this site, consult your parents.

It seems the boys want one million dollars per concert [this figure was provided by a staff member and cannot be confirmed. It is more than likely completely overstated] and from what the guy was telling me, most places (such as the first 2 concert dates) don't want to do it citing that this will make the tickets skyrocket, hence the problem: pay them the million they are asking for or not do the show? well, i thought about this, and i know a lot of people are not going to agree with me, but i think with age comes experience. (meaning in a few years, u might agree with me). i myself am 25 years old so maybe getting paid means more to me than the average 13 year old. with tht said, personally, whether this figure quoted to me is true or not, i side with bsb.

Hypothetically, let's assume this story is true. from where i stand these are some of the hardest working young men in the world right now. furthermore, what few groups can say their album debut reached #1 in at least 5 different countries? they have earned my respect and my money, if u really want to break it down. if they can pay julia roberts 20 million to do a movie, they damn sure can pay these guys one stinking million! and who really thought jim carey deserved 20 million for the cable guy? also, what we have to consider is we don't know how that money is going to be split up. figure at least it's divided by five as there are five of them. figure in the dancers and the band (they gotta get paid too) and we really aren't talking all that much. they have proven their credibility in my book and frankly, i think they deserve more. we gotta understand people, this is a business, ultimately it's about dollars and sense. if u aren't getting the dollars what is the sense in working?

And as far as the tickets skyrocketing, i think it is a scam. and not on the artist's part...............nope.

In my opinion, and that's all this is. the middleman is trying to cash in on someone else's hard work. so when u see the ticket prices increase, don't go blaming the bsb or any other artist. and please don't get me wrong. we all know the average fan being 12-18 years old is not going to be able to afford atrocious ticket costs, but again, let's cast blame where it is properly due. maybe if some of these vendors cut back on the ridiculous cost of food and beverages at the concerts, and various other pointless overhead costs, artists like the backstreet boys can get their just desserts. i am sure we have all heard stories of artists like tlc and mc hammer getting screwed over as far as money is concerned. so is it THAT hard to believe that if management and production did it, ticketmaster can do it too? it's sad really, but it all comes down to jealousy and cashing in on other people's success. there is a phrase i use a lot these days: it's called "PLAYA HATIN," and man do i see it i in 1999. i don't know maybe it's the millenium or something but trust me on this one people, there are a lot of haters that don't want to see these guys succeed. if they did petty stuff like this wouldn't be going on and we would not all be in limbo less than 2 months away from the first tentative concert date. personally, fellas, i hope u do a "titanic" on them. (minus the cheating on your wife with low budget actress part) anyway, i'm out. it's just my thoughts. anyone who cares to comment feel free to do so at aanderson2@home.com
