So much for Ricky Martin.

One week after the hotter-than-hot young Latin star scored the fastest-selling CD of 1999, his achievement was obliterated by another teen favorite, the Backstreet Boys.

This week, the Boys' new "Millennium" blew in at No.1 with first-week sales of 1.13 million. Not only is that the best so far this year ("Ricky Martin" came in at "only" 661,000), but it also breaks the previous all-time record, set last November by Garth Brooks' "Double Live" (1.08 million)

But don't feel too sorry for Martin. He's still at a quite respectable No. 2, with second-week sales (485,000) that would have put him at No.1 in most any other week.

Martin also is still the king of the singles charts, where his "Livin' La Vida Loca" is now in its fifth straight week at No. 1 on the pop and dance lists, and its seventh week as the leader of the Latin rankings.

But he suddenly is in danger in the pop race, where he is being threatened by the sudden emergence of a Latin princess: actress Jennifer Lopez.

This week, Lopez's first single, "If You Had My Love," took another big leap-from No.8 to No.2- to put it directly in line for No.1 honors. And since it's already No. 1 in record sales, all it needs is a bit more radio airplay (where it's only No.38) to become a very serious threat to Martin (who's No.2 this week in both sales and airplay).

Rounding out the rest of Top 5 were TLC's "No Scrubs," which slipped from No. 2 to No. 3 (it's No.8 R&B); Maxwell's "Fortunate," which repeated at No. 4 (and No.1 R&B); and Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me," which slipped from No. 3 to No.5 (but rose to No.2 in the adult-contemporary rankings).

Elsewhere on the pop list, there were no Top 40 debuts, but there's one new song to watch: Smash Mouth's "All Star," which in three weeks has zipped from No. 75 to No. 27. (It's already No.2 in the modern-rock rankings.)

Now, back to the hot action on the top albums list. That record-selling CD from the Backstreet Boys was just one of three new titles that scored Top 10 debuts this week. The others: "Beach House on the Moon" (No.8), by Jimmy "Margaritaville" Buffet; and Eightball & M.J.G.'s "In Our Lifetime," which entered at No. 10 (and No. 1 R&B)

Those two big debuts were not enough to prevent teen-queen Britney Spears from bouncing back into the Top 5 with her former No. 1 "...Baby One More Time," which moved from No.6 to No.3. Also rebounding, as expected, was the soundtrack for the mega-hype movie "Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace." This week, "Menace" moved back up to No. 5, after slipping from No. 8 to No.3 this week. Rounding out the Top 5: TLC's "Fan Mail," down from No.3 to No.4.

On the other major singles lists, Phil Collins' "You'll Be in My Heart" is still the adult-contemporary champ; Tim McGraw's "Please Remember Me" is again No.1 in country.
