But security warns anyone who makes a break for the Boys will get tossed

Kate Roche, 25, describes herself as a vintage concert junkie. If a big shows come to town, shes probably gone to see it.

The Chilliwack pop music fan, who recently relocated to Calgary where she works in the oil industry, has been to more big-arena concerts than most of us have been to movies.

One of the highlights of her concert-going career, which includes meeting Radiohead and New Kids on the Block, was hopping on stage at last summers N Sync concert at GM Place.

Everyone thinks Im some sort of psycho fan, says Roche. But it wasnt even that. I just wanted to prove a point.

Essentially, Roche wanted to prove that the arrogant security team was just too cocky for her liking.

They dont think anyone will do it, says Roche of her stage breach. These are 12-year-old girls. But theres always a way, somebodys going to do it.

Roche, who says she didnt plan on jumping on stage before going to the boy-band concert, waited for the lights to go down, then crawled over peoples feet, under a tarp and down a ladder while security was distracted.

I just made an absolute break for it, recalls Roche. Once I got up on stage it was more shocking than anything. I was standing right in between them. I just kind of stood there, it was like, whoa! When they dragged me off they werent too impressed.

Roche is the kind of fan 120 security personnel will be on the lookout for during tonights Backstreet Boys concert.

Therell be a large presence in front of the stage and around the backstage area, says Shane Bourbonnais, vice president of concert promoter SFX Music Canada. All those guys are trained for people rushing the stage and trying to jump on the stage.

Bourbonnais says the security for a Backstreet Boys show is much different than that for Elton John or Tina Turner.

An AC/DC or something like that would be very similar, he says. Anything where the fans are really into it, fans with, lets say, lots of energy, theyll put on extra security. Anyone who gets past is out for the night.
