Backstreet Boys make hotel more interesting

Date: Feb 10, 2001 Source: Denver Post Submitted By: Melissa Neale By Mike Burrows Denver Post Sports Writer Feb. 9, 2001 - TORONTO - While sharing the Four Seasons Hotel, the Denver Nuggets took a backseat to the Backstreet Boys. Tickets to the Backstreet Boys' concert, which drew 55,000 to Sky Dome on Wednesday night, sold out in 75 minutes. Nuggets forward Ryan Bowen said it took about that long to walk through the lobby of the Four Seasons, with the Back street Boys also staying there. "Tons of people, most of whom had to thankful ly stay out side," Bow en said, grinning. "But there were teen age girls every where. It was crazy, just so fun ny. It was just what you would imagine their fol lowing to be like. "When I heard the Backstreet Boys were staying at our hotel, I thought, 'This will be interesting.' And it was. As the day went on, you saw more and more people gathering at the hotel. They obviously weren't gathering to see me." It was the first time he has shared a hotel with the Backstreet Boys, coach Dan Issel said. "And I hope it's the last time," he added with a chuckle. Has he ever been mistaken for a Backstreet Boy? "I don't think so," Issel said. "Maybe a Deadend Kid, but not a Backstreet Boy." Comment on this item.
