"The End"

Three weeks after his arrival "Insane Blaine" has pulled his first and last on-air stunt for WLAN FM97 in Lancaster.

The night jock was fired last week, the day after telling listeners three of the Backstreet Boys had been killed in a plane crash, a prank he says he knew would end in unemployment.

Blaine, 22, who does not reveal his real name, said he was brought to WLAN to be "extreme, in your face, having a good time." But WLAN general manager Ron Roy turned his show into "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood."

"I didn't want to piss anybody off, but I figured it was a quick way to end it." Blaine said.

"He didn't make us very happy," said program director Vince DiBella. "He was told to get approval before any stunts. We were pretty ticked off after we got the story from listeners."

The station was inundated with calls from distraught fans of the boy band, prompting the insane one to be shown the door.

"We want a fun, upbeat show but not something mean spirited." DiBella said. "He did the exact opposite of what I asked him not to do."

Blaine, who has also worked for WQXA "The X" 105.7 FM and WBHV "The Beaver" 103.1 FM in State College, is now considering his employment options. He said he had a job interview earlier this week and is considering several other offers.
