Zomba Recording Group may not be a household name but their list of artists certainly is; Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync and Steps, to name but a few.

The label has announced its partnership with Liquid Audio to release individual songs and albums on a pay-per-download basis. The prices have not yet been announced but it's a major breakthrough for a record label to embrace the Internet as a way to promote their artists. Users will have to download a free copy of the Liquid Audio desktop player to hear the songs and it is thought the deal went through because Liquid Audio offers Zomba the chance to add certain copy restrictions into the MP3 files. Songs will be distributed through participating online retailers.
