Backstreet Boys left Sweden after three weeks- with seven new hits. They met Crownprincess Victoria. They ate Swedish meatballs. They played basketball. Yet they had time to record seven new songs during their stay in Sweden.

"The songs are really incredibly good, Howie D. says. All of them could be fantastic singles." Howie has taken a break from the recording. His fellow band-members are playing video-games and laying down song tracks. For almost three weeks the Backstreet Boys have been in Sweden to record for their new album. As always, they working with Swedish producer Max Martin and his partners from Cheiron in Stockholm.

"The best thing with working with Max is his creativity and his energy", Howie says. And, he is very funny.

All of the Boys are in a good mood. Kevin is newly married and comes directly from his honeymoon to Sweden. The rest of the band have also had a long vacation. But after many late nights at the night-clubs in Stockholm they are getting a bit worn out.

"Nightlife in Stockholm is really amazing. Especially the places around Stureplan. We’re enjoying the city and all the beautiful people during our free time", said Howie.

They will be back (to Sweden) on tour. They have not just had their fun at night, they have also had fun during the daylight hours. Kevin and Nick have played golf in the rain and all of them have bowled.

Brian and Nick have played some basketball with boys from Lidingö Basket and Bodal Bulls.

"They were pretty cocky, both of them, but Brian was the best. He was good at dribbling and he had a good shot too", Jonas Ekman from Lidingö Basket said.

But Howie has taken it easy with the sports, except for his morning exercises with the others.

"When I have some time off I usually speak on the phone or sleep", he said.

"A typical day in the studio begins at 1 p.m. We go to the recording-booth and record our parts. Meanwhile, the others are playing video-games or watching videos on TV".

They have seen all of the Alien-movies. And when they don’t watch TV, they have had their hair cut by a hair-dresser who came to the studio. AJ also got himself another tattoo.

What about the album? "We have recorded seven fantastic songs. Three up-beat, two half-calm songs and two ballads. It is still too early to say what the whole album is going to sound like, because we are only half-way there. But right now it’s as good as, or even better than our last album, Millennium".

Will we see you sing in Sweden soon? "Yes. It’s always wonderful to come here. Sweden was the first country we came to back in '95. And hopefully are we back on tour at the beginning of next year. There are so many good things about Sweden. We love the people here. And the wonderful weather in the summers.

Howie D about his fans: "It’s always flattering to see all the fans outside our hotel and the studio. We’re trying to get as close to them as possible, because they’re spending so many hours outside in all kinds of weather"

On Swedish food: "We love Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes"

On being a superhero: "It was Nick’s idea from the beginning. Just the thought of being a superhero is funny and crazy"
