Date: Jun 21, 2000 Take a detour to love with the sweet and sexy Backstreet Boy
Full name: Howard Dwaine Dorough Remember Menudo? Howie does. He auditioned when he was 14. "I got a callback, but they passed me over because my Spanish wasn't good enough for them," says the Puerto Rican-Irish singer. "God had another plan for me. He had the Backstreet Boys in mind." This native of Orlando is more than just a member of one of the most successful Grammy-nominated, fan-crazed groups of the millenium. He's a songwriter, actor, and record producer without nerly enough time for romance. "I would love to find a Catholic Latina who knows how to cook--my mom hasn't taught me yet," says this humble guy, know to fans and colleagues as Sweet D. "I love arroz con gandules y lechon" The Backstreet Boy you most want to take home to Mother, Howie, 26, wins hearts with his persnal touch. "When I was just an extra, I'd feel hurt if I was ignored by celebrities. Now I make sure to give fans attention and acknowledge the hours they spend sitting in the cold for concerts." This down-to-earth, tenderhearted papi is full of surprises: Last month, on the WB's Roswell, he played an evil alien out to kill the hero. And with all of his group members getting hitched, this megastar might be the next to find the time for love. So, chicas, a cocinar se ha dicho! And make sure it's lechon, and not menudo. article by Yesenia De Avila
