Dick Clark, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chaka Khan, Perry Farrell and More Than 700 Guests Witness Opening of "The 7th Portal"

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 1, 2000-- More than 700 guests converged on Raleigh Studios Tuesday night to witness superhero and pop culture icon Stan Lee launch his youth portal site, www.stanlee.net, and the first animated ``Webisode'' of the first global entertainment franchise created specifically for the Internet, ``The 7th Portal.''

Dick Clark hosted a multimedia program developed by Stan Lee Media (OTCBB:SLEE - news), an Internet entertainment content creation and marketing company founded by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee, and produced by Dick Clark Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:DCPI - news).

The show included performances by Jerry Lee Lewis, Chaka Khan and Perry Farrell and a vast array of multimedia images that combined Lee's 60 years of creating superheroes with animation from his first new superhero creation in 25 years, ``The 7th Portal.''

The program also featured interviews with luminaries from around the world, live via satellite, and interviews with celebrity guests at the Los Angeles party. Those who attended the party included James Caan, George Hamilton, Alana Hamilton, Judd Nelson, Harry Hamlin, Dean Cain, Ed Asner, Tracy Scoggins, Sid Ceasar, Leeza Gibbons, Nicolette Sheridan, Lou Ferrigno, David Faustino, Justin Walker, Shari Belafonte, Joey Lawrence, Kerr Smith and Herbie Hancock.

The gala marked ``The 7th Portal's'' debut on shockwave.com for its 11 million subscribers and its universe of 200 million Flash-enabled Internet users throughout the world.

The event also included a number of tributes from political, business and media figures, including President Clinton who wrote a letter to Lee to commemorate the evening. Larry King, The Backstreet Boys, Academy Award-winning director James Cameron and Macromedia chairman, Rob Burgess, also paid tribute to Lee.

The event was also offered as a free satellite broadcast to a global television audience as well as teleconferenced to partners in Japan and India interacting with the gala. In addition, IBM managed a Webcast of the event, which was available at www.stanlee.net and CyberCafe venues worldwide.

``I can't express what an honor it was to see all these people who have a connection to the stories I've written and the work we're all doing at Stan Lee Media,'' said Lee, chairman and chief creative officer of Stan Lee Media.

``Dick Clark and his team put together an amazing show and the response from everyone has been tremendous. We think this is the beginning of something that will bring the worlds of entertainment and the Internet closer together, and if last night was any indication, I'm sure we're on the right track.''
