The Y2K hype was nothing compared to what’s happening right now. At the moment, the Backstreet Boys are filling every corner of the planet with an untamed excitement and a well-deserved mania. Their second album, Millennium, has sold over 10 million copies and counting, they have four Grammy nominations, their most recent single, "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely," is sitting high on the charts, and tickets to their shows are selling out in every city worldwide in mere minutes. Howie, Nick, Brian, A.J., and Kevin are riding high.

Although it appears that these five guys have got it made, they don’t show signs of slowing down. They continue to work hard to make sure their music is top quality and that their performances are nothing less than the best. According to Brian Littrell, the band talked about making a few changes to the second leg of their Into The Millennium Tour to keep it fresh and make it even better. "We were thinking about doing some wardrobe or song changes to make it different for the audiences, because a lot of people are going to see us on this leg."

"We’ve been traveling with this specific tour six or seven months now," said 25-year-old Littrell. And another six or seven more to go? "Yeah, probably so," laughed the singer. And two of those days, February 28 and 29 will be spent in Houston at the Compaq Center. Both shows are sold out. If you were able to get a ticket, consider yourself lucky and savor the evening.

Even though 1998 was a rough year for the band – Brian had heart surgery, Howie lost his sister, there was a legal battle with their now former management, and other personal dilemmas – they got through the entire plight and in 1999 they presented their fans with Millennium. It was one of the most anticipated albums of the year. "I know we were all pretty nervous because of the whole talk in the music industry about the sophomore slump," claimed Littrell. But with songs like "I Want It That Way," "Larger Than Life" and the latest, "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely," they broke the curse.

The Backstreet Boys are back and stronger than ever. "The best part about the Backstreet Boys, where we sit right now," asserted Littrell, "is we’re in control of everything. So it’s going to be exciting to see how it pans out. And I’m actually looking forward to it because I think we’ve proved a lot of the critics wrong with this ‘boy band’ type thing."

They did indeed prove a lot of critics wrong by making music that is so very right.
