A Backstreet.Net reader from Littleton, CO talks about the High School Tragedy

Date: Apr 22, 2099 Source: Susie Submitted By: On April 20, 1999....my hometown, Littleton, CO endured the most gruesome attack on the lives of its residents in the history of the state. Lives were changed, families were destroyed and children were altered.....for doing nothing more than going to school. To live here....you'd have to know what it feels like. This is the most normal city in the US....everyone has 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 cars, 2 kids....the white picket fence. This doesn't happen here. As many have said....we live in a cocoon and the security we once all felt as a community is now gone. 15 students died...some for doing nothing more than wearing a baseball hat to school today. Some for the color of their skin.....some because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. On my way home from work...all I could think about is me trapped inside that school while they showered the cafeteria and library with bullets.....my mother standing outside. You all watched the news coverage....hugged your parents and went to sleep in your safe beds tonight. That security will never be felt here again....these children will never be the same again. This whole city is in a state of shock that will be felt for months and years to come. I was just like all of you...this doesn't happen here. I saw things like this on TV and heard about it on the radio...but it just doesn't happen in my town. Well....it does....and if it can happen here....God help us all. If you have any heart or compassion at all...pray for this city tonight....pray for the children who didn't deserve this attack at all. And remember.....this doesn't happen here either.
