That's when Grammy-nominated recording artists BACKSTREET BOYS will release the first single--``I Want It That Way''--worldwide from their much-anticipated second album MILLENNIUM (Jive), due out May 18. A video for the song was just shot in Los Angeles with Wayne Isham at the director's helm. Meanwhile the BACKSTREET BOYS are set for their own hour-long Disney Channel special, ``Backstreet Boys in Concert.'' Scheduled for a world premiere July 10, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, it will be taped in New York on May 11 at the historic New Amsterdam Theater in front of 1,800 fans. MILLENNIUM is the follow-up to BACKSTREET BOYS' self-titled debut album, which just received the prestigious Diamond Award from the Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.), signifying sales of over 10 million in the U.S. alone. The album has already spent 85 weeks on Billboard's ``Top 200 Albums'' chart and is positioned this week at No. 29. The release of MILLENNIUM will be followed by a massive worldwide tour (details are forthcoming). ``Backstreet Boys In Concert'' will not only allow fans to catch the group-NICK CARTER, HOWIE DOROUGH, BRIAN LITTRELL, A.J. MCLEAN and KEVIN RICHARDSON--performing on national television, but they'll also get a behind-the-scenes look as the multi-platinum superstars take on New York City. BACKSTREET BOYS have scored five U.S. Top Ten singles. Three of them--the No. 1 hit ``I'll Never Break Your Heart,'' ``Everybody (Backstreet's Back)'' and the current Top Ten hit ``All I Have To Give''--have achieved platinum certification. On the awards front, the group are winners of the 1998 MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video, the 1996 and 1997 MTV Europe Viewers Choice Award and 1998 Billboard Music Awards for Best Group and Best Adult-Contemporary Group.
