Prepare to swoon, my preteen pals. Your intrepid Backstreet Boys special correspondent just had a two-hour lunch with all five guys. My hopes of passing on the keepsake of a lifetime in a "Win Nick Carter's Half Eaten French Fry" contest were dashed when the Hard Rock Live! Folks cleared the table when we got up to take photos. But next time, I wont let you down. Wednesday's chat was informal, mostly in the fun, frivolous "Boxers or Briefs?" zone. They described their long-awaited next album Millennium-Due out May 18-as versatile, with some dance tracks, ballads and songs you will tap your foot to in the truck. The guys also promise fans will hear growth both lyrically and musically. On the girlfriend front: The guys want you to know they are all dating, some more seriously than others. The days of dodging those questions are over, but they prefer their private lives to be just that. Howie Dorough sweetly set me straight that he had not announced he has a girlfriend, as everyone in town has. "That was Brian [Littrell] and A. J. [Mclean]," Dorough said. "Im still in the dating scene." Dorough showed up for lunch looking like a Young Republican. We're talking Tommy Hilfiger long-sleeve plaid shirt and navy slacks. "Im going to a business meeting later," Dorough explained. He is developing Florida condos and dabbling in investments. "I hear so many stories about people doing what we do, then a year later having to take a 9-5 job, Dorough said. Dorough likes to go out and mingle with people but increasingly gets recognized. "Its weird. When we were big in Europe, we'd always come here and call it No Fan Land," Dorough said. "The only people who knew us were tourists from Canada and Europe who would come by my house and I'd be on the porch inviting them in to take a picture". Mclean, sporting fake leopard slippers, talked about his girlfriend Amanda Latona's new 3-month year old Shih Tzu puppies, Panda and Bear. Lets see.. What else? Jennifer Love Hewitt came by Mclean's recent 21st birthday party in LA. His present to himself? "A $50,000 renovation on my house," "We're thinking about getting a winter home-some place where there's snow," Mclean said. "I hate it but my girlfriend loves it." Mclean said he doesn't ski, skateboard or even inline skate because he's so "Uncoordinated." I can dance, but I can't dance with wheels on my feet!" he said, adding that his physique was another problem. "There's no cushion on my tush."
