March 9, 1999, HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Billy Joel, Elton John, Boston, Boyz II Men, Fleetwood Mac, and the Eagles are among the acts whose albums will be honored next week with the brand new diamond sales certification.

The new award, which will recognize sales of 10 million units for an album or single, will be unveiled by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) at New York's Roseland Ballroom on March 16.

John, Joel, Boston, and Boyz II Men are among the acts expected to be present at the ceremony.

The diamond joins the trade group's portfolio of certifications, which includes a platinum nod for sales of 1 million units, and gold for sales of 500,000 units.

Other acts who have qualified for the diamond certification include Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys, and Garth Brooks.
