Observations by Backstreet.Net readers and Caitlin
Bob McLean, AJ's Dad (email withheld) wrote me to say:
Caitlin,
I was there when he was born Jan 9th 1978 my mother's birthday also.
Trust me I know his age, when he turned 18 the court stopped child
support payments. So all can rest knowing he is 21 next Saturday. Also,
no grandchild for me anytime soon. Alex is not going to be a father, or
at least that is what he told me last Sunday when we had lunch in Winter
Park.
So have a great one

AJ's dad
At first, I wasn't sure whether to believe that the message came from AJ's Dad so I
replied saying that I didn't want to be rude but there are so many BSB impersonators
on the web... He replied by listing all sorts of AJ's relatives that I had never heard
of before including the names of his grandparents and uncle. This seemed reasonable to me
so I went with it. I'm not 100% sure that the information he provided me was
accurate... does anyone know the names of his grandparents (on his father's side) and
his uncle?
According to many, AJ has
a tattoo of a snake and not of a dragon. The year of the serpent ends in
February '78. If AJ was born in the year of the serpent then he will be turning 21
on the 9'th of January, 1999.
The only problem is that he said on the Yahoo! chat that he was born in
the year of the dragon and had a dragon tattoo on his back! To quote him from the chat:
Sweet_girl_for_u99 asks: A.J. i love your tattoos. Do they have any meanings to them?
A.J.: Let's see. Currently I have five of them. They all have a meaning to me. I'm not quite done with them yet. The one on my left forearm is a comedy mask which represents comedy and tragedy because I grew up doing theater which is my first love. Right above that is the statement "Laugh Now". Right above that on my left shoulder is my name written in tribal. On my back left shoulder is a dragon, since I was born in the year of the dragon. On my right shoulder is my nickname written in a cross. We have a show coming up in LA on the 8th, and I want to get a panda bear on my right forearm. Reason being is because in my eyes it combines a non-racist image, black and white together, in a uniform symbol. That's all I have so far!
So it seems that Roxanne may have a point! I searched the net for information about the year of the dragon
and in all cases it was stated that it was 1976. If it ended on Jan 31, 1976 then that
would make AJ 23 this coming January 9, 1999.
Hyper D who is Chinese sent me this piece of
information about AJ and the Chinese calendar. She's assuming that AJ's tattoo is of a snake:
This can get really confusing, trust me! I'm Chinese myself
and it's still confussing for me. When I read the article I felt
something was weird about what Roxanne said so I decided to look into it.
To understand it you'll have to know a little bit about the Chinese calendar.
It's different from the western calendar. Usually the Chinese year starts in late
Jan or early Feb. First of all AJ has a tatoo of a snake and not a
dragon. The year of the dragon ran from Jan. 31 '76 to Feb 17 '77.
The next sign following is the snake running from Feb. 18 '77 til Feb. 6 '78.
The next sign even after that is the horse from Feb. 7 '78 til Jan. 27 '79.
Therefore AJ being born on Jan. 9 '78 makes him a snake.
The placemat zodiac that Roxanne saw was based on the western calendar and said that
1978 was the year of the horse because most of the western year was the year
of the horse. The first part of the western year of '78 was the last part of the Chinese year of '77.
This is why in Chinese culture you are a year older than your actual age.
If my calculations are correct then AJ's Chinese birthday is Dec. 13 '77.
Angel and
Annie sent me these pictures that shows the tattoo in question.
At first glance it looks like a snake but it could be a Chinese dragon I suppose because the head
seems to be a little larger than the rest of the body.
Amanda sent me this link that may help us to understand
Chinese astrology a little more: http://www.homepagers.com/chinese/chinese.html
