In case you missed it, Kevin was a judge at the 1999 Miss USA Pageant. It was aired on CBS on Friday, Feb 5, 1999. He seemed to like Miss Tennesee the most.

There are a couple of pictures that I captured from the show in my picture gallery.

Last night was the 48th annual Miss America Pageant. As I tuned in I noticed when the bulletin came up showing the judges scores. I saw 'Kevin Richardson' flash up as one of the judge's names. I was excited and couldn't wait until they introduced the judges. When they did, sure enough there was Kevin as a judge. He was styling very fashonibly with his dress attire. He was wearing a black, with ridged stripes, which seemed to be velvet. He looked more handsome than usual, I might add. Just as I was getting a little jelous of Kevin being there with some of the most beautiful women in America, I realized he was the most harsh judge. Out of at least 8 judges he was voting each girl the lowest compared to the other judges. The only state I noticed that he voted high for was Tennesee. I don't think any fans have anything to worry about because Kevin is a gentleman. With this fact in mind, the statement I have heard so many times out of each of BSB's mouths haunts me as a lie now; "Looks aren't important". Even though I'm sure he has a reason and a good one for judging these women, for years the pageant has been based on looks. Well, until he makes a statement on the being a judge that is my opinion.

After reading the review of the Miss USA Pageant entitled "Judge Kevin hands down his decision at the '99 Miss USA Pageant," I decided to go watch the show since my roommate had taped it. I viewed the pageant in a completely different light, and I would like to give my review of it. Unlike the person who wrote the original article to which I have referred, I personally agreed with Kevin. My roommate and I watched the Miss USA Pageant, and we like the same contestants that Kevin liked. As far as saying that the "looks aren't important" statement is a lie, I do not agree. Yes, Kevin was by far, the harshest judge, but with good reason. The females that he gave low scores to acted ditzy, couldn't answer questions, and wore dresses to accentuate their cleavage. The contestants who scored higher by Kevin's standards (such as Miss Tennessee and Miss South Carolina) were classy, intelligent females who had a "real" personality. They gave the best answers, wore dresses that could only be described as beautiful and elegant. Also, they did not "strut their stuff" or give a fake giggle whenever asked a question. I personally like Kevin even more after seeing this because it is more obvious to me now what types of females he finds appealing. He seems to go for the classy females who are intelligent and do not try to put on an act. As I recall, this is the type of girl that Kevin has always said he goes for. Therefore, he practices what he preaches, and I respect that very much. I think next time, Backstreet fans shouldn't analyze something so much, and they definitely should not think that they are being lied to. I believe in my mind and heart that Kevin is indeed a true gentleman, and this pageant proved it to me.
