This article written by Al Weisel entitled "Oh Boys!" is actually a feature on N Sync but i found some parts that i think every Backstreet Boys fan should be aware of. ..."N Sync - the R&B vocal quintet that is vying with the Backstreet Boys to be the hottest boy band in America"... ..."From the pop factory that brought you the prefab Backstreet Boys, here comes the kitsch, N Sync."... ..."It seems like they are doing everything we did last year" says Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough. The only difference is that N Sync catapulted to the same level of popularity as the Backstreet Boys in half the time. In fact, the Backstreet Boys inadvertently helped speed up N Sync's rise. When the Boys turned down an offer to do a live show for the Disney channel, the network turned to N Sync. After that July broadcast, N Sync went platinum.... ..."If the Backstreet Boys resent the upstart success of N Sync, they didn't show it when they greet them with warm hugs later in the evening at a rehearsal for the Billboard awards. They talk about how they gambled the previous night at the Hard Rock Hotel with the likes of Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. As the Backstreet Boys leave to rehearse, Kirkpatrick calls out jokingly to Dorough, "Someday, when you grow up, you can be in our group.""...
