I have never heard of HotHits and can't find a Web site addy for them. There are some inconsistencies in the article as pointed about by a fellow fans. Click here to read their comments. A 15 year old girl would never be allowed to "tour" with the Boys! A number of people believe that the article is real and have written to me saying just that. Click here to read their comments. I think we have discussed this enough so I won't be posting any more reader comments here unless I get something new... like a picture of Hot Hits and a picture of the actual g/f quote. Here's the article: While the Backstreet Boys were on their US tour, HotHits managed to catch up with the blonde babe of the group, Nick Carter. Nick agreed to sit down for a quick Q and A when he had a few minutes to spare. HH: So Nick, how are you and the rest of the group handling the tour? Nick: Oh, it's really awesome! It's been a great experience for us. It's wonderful to finally bring the show home and have it be so successful. We're really thankful. HH: How much longer is your tour going to be rolling along? Nick: Well, we have about 5 more shows and that's it. HH: After the tour is completed, what's next for you guys? Nick: After the tour is over we head back into the studio to record our new album, which should be out sometime in the spring. HH: Will the new album include any solos or songs written by the Backstreet Boys? Nick: Yes, in fact we are helping to write the whole album, and my solo "Heaven In Your Eyes", which I performed on the US tour, will also be included on the CD. HH: Do you enjoy being the youngest and most popular member of the group? Nick: I love it! But I also feel that every member in the group is equal and no one is more important than any one else. HH: So Nick, will you or have you ever dated a fan? Nick: Actually, yes I have-well, I am. As you probably know, during the song "I'll Never Break Your Heart", our security selects three girls from the audience to dance with Howie, Kevin, and me. In the middle of our tour-I think it was our DC concert-I met my girlfriend, Ashleigh. She had been selected for me to dance with. I noticed she had a backstage pass, and I saw her later on after the show. We began talking and found out that we had a lot in common. Everything clicked really well and we decided to start dating. In fact, she's coming on tour with us for the rest of the summer. HH: Why are you suddenly admitting to a girlfriend after denying rumors for so long? Nick: Well, all the rumors before this were false. I respect my girlfriend and I feel that lying about her is wrong. My fans need to understand that I am a human being and I do have a life of my own. I am in no way trying to hurt my fans! I love all of them because without them we wouldn't be where we are today. HH: Will you tell us a little bit about her? Nick: (He grins widely and hides his face in his hands) Umm, she's 15, she has blonde hair and green eyes. She's really nice and fun to be around. I can't give too many details because I don't want to change her life by putting her in the public eye. HH: Wow! What a great interview! Thanks for all the new info on you guys! I'll be interested to hear what you find out about the authenticity of the interview with Nick in November 98 Hot Hits magazine. Personally, I didn't think the words sounded like Nick's...I mean, if you've listened to him speak and read "real" interviews with him, the sentence structure, the choice of words, etc in the Hot Hits article sound wrong. Also, content-wise, I don't think Nick would physically describe his girlfriend and I definately don't think he would mention her age. He is 18 and she is 15 and, well, that's statutory rape.... In the article, Nick says the band has 5 more shows to do before the end of the tour. The tour ended on like September 20 (am I right on this?), so the interview undoubtedly took place in September. Later he says that Ashleigh is touring with them for the rest of the "summer". Those two statements don't jive with one another. Plus, if Asheigh is 15, she would have to be in school in September...Also, a minor, such as a 15-year-old, must have a guardian with them in a situation such as touring. Somehow that doesn't fit into the picture. My guess is that the "article" was written by a 15-year-old, blonde-haired, green-eyed girl named Ashleigh. But hey, I'll be interested to know what comes of your investigation. I received this email from JD. It doesn't seem right about this article. Considering its a question/answer one you would think it would seem more candid -not so clean and punctual. Plus "nick's" answers seem so enthusiastic. Not like Nick at all. From reading and listening to interviews, he tends to be a bit cagey or he makes his sentences longer with pauses... I received this email from another Heather. Hi! I definetly agree with Heather as to this being a total lie. All of the things she said totally make sense. Also I have a few of my own facts to tell you it is for SURE untrue. The DC concert he says he met her at...(and by the way "Nick" THINKS it was in DC? If he was so head over heels for this girl like he describes wouldn't he know where he met her?) I was at this concert at the Nissan Pavilion in DC and I assure you there were no girls pulled onstage during ANY part of the show. Also, correct me if I am wrong, they didn't do that part of the show at all on the summer tour where they pulled girls up onstage. I believe I read in an interview, as well as being present at the concert and talking to others at the US concerts, that there were no girls pulled up on stage this summer. Therefore, "Ashleigh" couldn't have been pulled up onstage and into the arms of this oh so adoring Nick. If you ask me, I think the little girl that wrote this, pressumably Ashleigh, needs to wake up and get her facts straight before she tries to break the hearts of adoring fans that KNOW all the facts! So DON'T WORRY NICK LOVERS..if he has a girlfriend, she is still secret and obviously he is not TOO in love with her!:) There is hope for us yet! I received this email from Shannon. I just want to say that I don't think that this is a real article either. I agree with everything that Heather has said, and I would like to point out one more thing. "Heaven In Your Eyes" is NOT the name of the song, so wouldn't you think that the real Nick would know that? I received this email from Kristen of the BSB Connection I don't believe that interview actually came from Nick's mouth. As soon as I read it (I received it in an email), I didn't believe it. None of the guys physically describe their girlfriends, nor do they mention their names often - they'd rather they didn't get recognized or harrassed. The guys didn't pull any girls on stage on this tour - and did anyone notice the connection between "Ashleigh" and the author, whose initials are "A.P"? I'm sure Nick probably does have a girlfriend (he's 18 for Pete's sake!), which he will continue to keep to himself - not because he doesn't love her, but because he *does* love her and doesn't want her to be mauled by jealous little girls all over the world. It's not our business who his girlfriend is anyway. HotHits does not exist - and in my opinion this "interview" was written by a 15 year old girl named Ashleigh who has nothing better to do with her time. I received this email from Juliane As most have probably already noticed, when Nick gets asked about girls he goes all shy and he rarely ever mentions his love life. It is just not like him! So whoever wrote that article should keep her daydreams to herself!!!!! I received this email from vjam The most obvious fact (along with many others about this article) is that BSB said themselves in an interview like 1-2 years ago that they stopped doing that dance on stage to I'll never break your heart because too many fans were getting jealous. I've never seen them do that... and no concert experiences I've read said aything about doing that. That just doesn't sound like nick! I received this email from Abrl498@aol.com I do NOT think that is a real article. Like another person on your site, I was at the DC concert... and it wasn't even in DC! It was in Northern VA! But anyway, during INBYH, NO girls were pulled up on stage. Also, Nick has never said he loves being the youngest in the group. He HAS said that he enjoys the attention, but he never said he loved it like it sounded in that "article". I received this email from Greg I wanted to let you know that I checked with the registry of publishers, and there is no such magazine as "Hot Hits". Well at least not that's published here on earth! :-) Also, did you notice how both those responses from people who think that it was real are from Hotmail addresses. Anyone can make those, and my guess the same person who sent the bogus article to you also wrote both those replies. Just my opinion I received this email from Heather Boyer To you girls who say they have the magazine, I can assure you if you do indeed have the magazine, it is a false article for this reason: The Backstreet Boys did a radio interview in Chicago yesturday and it was, for an hour, played on a radio station where I live. The questions of girlfriends came up and faithfully Brain and AJ said they had them, but the others said they DID NOT. NICK HIMSELF, HIS VOIVCE, HIM said this "No I do not have a girlfriend. I haven't found the right one yet. But I am trying to date but it is hard." If he had this serious girlfriend, one in which he describes in odd detail and of great affection and as "printed" only like a month ago, don't you think he would have said it when asked now? For those of you that tell ME to wake up and face reality, I think you need to check the source of this magazine and where they get these fake articles from. And I am sorry you believe that he would date a 15 year old, and am not trying to shatter all your 15 year old dreams, but come on guys! He is an 18 year old pop star..umm..don't you think someone more his age would seem a little more believable?? I will be very happy for him the day he finds the girl he can publicize, but for now I this girl HAS NOT come, straight from his mouth. So YOU wake up and stop believeing trash called "HotHits". Please... From MoNtAnAmAy This is in response to Meagan, who wrote a letter asking why a magazine would lie. FOR PUBLICITY, honey! I'm sorry to tell you but not everyone tells the truth all the time. The people at HotHits knew that saying that Nick Carter had a girlfriend, that people would get upset and show their friends, who would go cry to their friends, who would go buy the magazine to get proof, and then show their friends... it's an endless cycle. About the girls being pulled onstage: maybe in some places they did, but in the DC concert (which I believe was held in VA, if I have my facts straight), I understand they did not. So how could "Ashleigh" be pulled onstage with Nick? And as numerous other people pointed out, a minor would not be allowed to tour without a guardian. Also, in every single interview I've ever read or saw, none of the BSB physically described their girlfriends. They've dropped the names once or twice, but that's about it. So, sorry Meagan and any other girls who think this is real, but in my opinion its completely fake. Sorry to burst your bubbles! Okay, I can 100 percent verify that this article is true because I read it with my own eyes. HotHits is an up and coming mag, so they wouldn't have a webpage yet and I highly doubt that they would publish a false article. Besides, How would that Dominique girl get the article if "Ashleigh" made it up? And to all you Nick fans out there in denial that he has a gf, I think you need to grow up! Also, in response to the comment about statitory rape, uh...that only counts if you have sex! And, my parents would let me tour with the BSB, and I'm 15! I'm sure there explanations for that part of the article. Oh, and "I Need You Tonight", is commonly called "Heaven in Your Eyes", so maybe Nick just called it that so that all of his fans would know what he was talking about. I have the magazine myself. It is very very rare and I got it from my aunt (who knows the editor of the mag)and i can tell you that this is true. When I read it I didn't want to believe it myself, because I am in LOVE WITH NICK and the last thing I want is for him to have a gf. For all of you who don't believe this article...why would a mag lie about this? Exactly, they have no reason to so it's true. This is from Lizzie D I think the interview with Nick about Ashleigh may have been real. There was an interview in US magazine, where Nick said he had a "cousin" but then was seen making out with his so called "cousin". That article was from about the same time the HotHits article would've been from. It described the "cousin" as blond, so she might have been the same girl. But, you'll also notice that the summer tour was extended SEVERAL times, so at the time, Nick may have thought that there were only 5 shows left. You can notice, too, that on Regis and Kathie Lee, he acknowledged himself as one of the single BSBs! So, I bet he and Ashleigh broke up, if their relationship was ever real. I believe her. Wether you guys do or not. I think that all of you are just jealous and don't want to face reality that Nick may actually like someone. I know that you wish it was you because I do.
