Winterland signs license agreement with chart topping recording group Backstreet Boys San Francisco, CA -- The Backstreet Boys, one of the hottest singing groups to hit the urban pop music scene, is now one of Winterland's most exciting licenses. Winterland is proud to add the Backstreet Boys to its impressive artist roster. "This is one of the most sensational deals we have signed in years," says Donn Tice, Winterland's CEO. This takes Winterland back into a genre of music with a broader market base. As we did in the early nineties with 'New Kids on the Block.'" Winterland will launch the new Backstreet Boys merchandise line this spring having worldwide merchandising rights for tour, retail and licensing. The line of apparel, school supplies, watches and more will be marketed to ages 10 to 18. The line will be distributed to specialty and department store retailers. In 1995 the Backstreet Boys, A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brain Littrell, dominated the music charts throughout the world with their first single, "We've Got It Goin' On." The single attained gold and platinum record sales in Europe as well as 35 other countries, including the UK, making them one of the biggest international success stories of the year. After the release of their second single, "I'll Never Break Your Heart," they were voted the #1 international group by TV viewers in Germany where the single went Gold. In Australia the single went to #1. This lead to the demand for the group's live show, that was driving audiences wild, in Asia and Canada and the beginning of a 57-date sold-out European tour.
