- Date: Sep 13, 2001 TORONTO (CP) -- A local radio station will be collecting money for the Red Cross in support of the U.S.A. Appeal Relief Fund during Backstreet Boys concerts over the next three nights. Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington also hit close to the band -- a crew member from their current tour was aboard one of the four hijacked planes. Daniel Lee, a carpenter, had been using time off in the tour schedule to travel from Boston to Los Angeles to be with his pregnant wife. A moment of silence for those killed in the attacks was to precede Wednesday's concert. Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter expressed regrets on behalf of the band for all of the victims of the terrorist acts.
