- Date: Sep 04, 2001 American pop heart-throb Backstreet Boys have now grown up--but they're refusing to refer to themselves as men. The singers feels there's no need to give their band a more mature moniker, as there are many others older bands which have stuck with the 'boy' tag. Bandmember Howie Dorough says, "I feel we're definitely growing. Boys for us will always be in the name of Backstreet Boys, because boys to us is a name for, just friends. "There's the Beach Boys, the Pet Shop Boys. They never changed their names to the Beach Men or the Pet Men. So we decided to keep it boys."---WENN
