Destiny's Child Eyes June 16 As Tour Kick-Off

Date: Feb 18, 2001 Source: CDNow/Allstar Daily News Submitted By: Gina Destiny's Child is planning to kick off a tour on June 16 with a full band backing the GRAMMY Awards-nominated trio, Kelly Rowland told allstar after the Backstreet Boys show Thursday (Feb. 15) night at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich. While Rowland, whose group opened the Silverdome show for the Boys, didn't elaborate on the details, the group is rumored to be joining the Backstreet Boys, Shaggy, and Aaron Carter for a major summer tour. In the meantime, the group is doing one-off track shows in the Midwest through March 31. "We're only doing spot dates because we're so busy," Rowland said. In other Destiny's Child news, the group recently finished recording its next album; lead singer Beyonce Knowles is slated to appear as the lead character in the made-for-MTV movie, Carmen: A Hip Hopera, and the group will perform on the GRAMMY Awards on Wednesday (Feb. 21) and probably take home an award or two. -- Christina Fuoco Comment on this item.
