WASHINGTON -- Young girls in the crowd screamed each time Nick Carter or Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys took a shot at Sunday's Nestle Crunch Celebrity Basketball Game -- and that was just during warm-ups.

The two Boys played well during the surprisingly competitive game at the Washington Convention Center, but their team -- East -- couldn't quite catch up with their opponents, and West won 74-69.

The game, part of the NBA All-Star Weekend, featured actors, musicians and comedians having fun on the sidelines but taking things seriously on the basketball court. Rapper Ice Cube, singer Brian McKnight, actress Gabrielle Union (the only woman who got playing time) and actor Don Cheadle (Traffic) were among the ''West'' team stars.

MTV heartthrob Carson Daly only got about 10 seconds of playing time, and admitted before the game that basketball wasn't his forte. ''Any celebrities who play good basketball are not working hard enough -- ha ha,'' he said.

Comedian Bill Bellamy won MVP for scoring the most points. New York Giants defensive back Jason Sehorn also had a good game (on the losing side). Tom Cavanagh of NBC's Ed won the dubious honor of Weirdest Shoe for his yellow Reeboks.
