The group were greeted by devoted fans who blocked the streets in eager anticipation of their arrival. Some had staked out a spot since Monday morning, camping out over night to ensure a glimpse of their idols. Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, who are promoting their latest album Black & Blue with a 10 month-long world tour, told reporters that the group is 'tighter than ever, honestly.' Youngest member, Nick Carter, added. `We've gone on this long and we just want to keep going, we want to be one of the longest groups of our kind to ever last.'

Canada has always been a hot spot for the band and now Shape Of My Heart, the first single to be released from their latest album, has broken the record for the most weeks at No 1 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart. The track has notched up 14 weeks at the top spot beating the previous record of 13 weeks held by Canadian Celine Dion and Toni Braxton. They've also tied for prime position as the group with the longest stay at No 1 on any Canadian radio chart with U2's Beautiful Day.

Meanwhile, Backstreet Boys certainly look like they want to hold on to every possible dollar of the estimated $350 million they're set to make during their 2001 Black & Blue tour.

During their stopover last week in Philadelphia the group and their entourage of 45 all stayed at The Ritz-Carlton which is offering cut-prices rooms until the end of the month - just $175 a night which is a saving of nearly 50 per cent! The group's latest single the Call is out 12 February. The video, shot in Los Angeles, shows each guy playing a character who gets caught cheating on his girlfriend. Catch AJ's thoughts about obsessive fans and death threats on worldpop later today.
