How do you stay fit on the road? Howie: It's hard. Very hard. I try to watch what I eat. Even though everybody thinks, "Wow, you get up on stage and you work and burn so many calories. You should have no problem staying slim and trim." But I just look at the food and it goes to my stomach--I have the one-pack instead of the 6-pack, 'cause of the time off we had with our families cooking. But now, I try to watch what I eat, my calorie intake. I eat a lot of fish and chicken. I try to get to the gym. What does you mom make that you go crazy for? Howie: Home cooking to me is a blessing. I go out to eat, and now I come home, and my dad is like, "Son, do you want to go out to eat tonight?" And I'm like, "Oh dad, I really wish mom could cook instead." She makes lots of Spanish food, which I don't get on the road--it's hard to find good traditional Spanish, Puerto Rican-type food. I always put on a few extra pounds when I get home. What do the rest of you do to stay in shape?
AJ: Try to eat right, try and work out--which are 2 things I don't do! Just pace yourself--don't run yourself ragged. I used to go out every night, but I don't do it as much anymore. I mean to clubs...I'll go down to the restaurant in the hotel and eat something, play a little pool if they have a pool table, hopefully they do--if not, I'll find a place that has one. Play some golf--try to relax and keep everything normal...I pop Vitamin C every day, I pop zinc every day, keeping my vitamins going every day. Nick: I play basketball and work out. SUMMER CAMP STORIES - BSB Since you were a camp counselor, what was your wackiest camp experience? Kevin: We used to have panty raids all the time, 'cause it was sometimes a co-ed camp. One time the girls raided our cabins and strung our underwear up the flagpole. Another time, a couple of guys snuck down to the pond and got tadpoles, frog eggs and frogs and opened the girls cabin door and threw a bucket of them on a bunch of girls in the cabin. That was hard to deal with--a lot of people were upset about that. I used to put a hockey mask on, and a pair of coveralls, and sneak around, scare the heck out of people. I used to get snakes all the time--I would lead hikes, and I would be the first one on the trail, and I'd have to get those poisonous snakes. We used to have skit night all the time--that was probably one of my first performances I ever did--I used to play my keyboard, me and my buddy. I would plug my keyboard into the auxiliary unit of my old stereo, and have my own PA system with my keyboard. We'd put on talent shows.
