Not only is she the percussionist for the Backstreet Boys and she is the only girl in the band but she is also an AMAZING singer! Mindi grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, where her father, Lance Abair was a touring saxophone player too in the Tampa Bay area. She toured with her parents when she was younger, and had the convenience of a studio, which her father built, next to her room. That was when she realized she wanted follow in her father’s footsteps, and become a touring instrumentalist or a singer and songwriter. She went to school at Boston's elite Berklee College of Music, where she became the sax extraordinaire she is today. Before touring with BSB, she made a name of herself by touring as the featured saxophonist on major tours with jazz guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Butler, actor/singer Adam Sandler, jazz keyboardist Bobby Lyle, and composer John Tesh. After touring, she went back to her new home in LA, where she planned to record her album as a singer and songwriter. However, her plans we soon interrupted when she got a call from the Boys' vocal coach, who wanted her hired right away. She is still on tour with the Backstreet Boys, but she also released her debut CD, on her site, www.mindiabair.com. She recently opened for the Johnny Suede Show in Orlando, Florida, and also performed in NY with her band. She is an awesome percussionist, singer, and just an all around great performer. She is an inspiration for 'Girl Power', and she is truly and a unique 'Rockin’ Chic'.
