Date: Jun 03, 2099 Despite a long hot streak, Jive Records owner Clive Calder avoids the spotlight. In a quarter century, he's given just one interview. But it may be hard to avoid the attention, thanks to the tidal wave success of the Backstreet Boys --- whose album "Millennium" broke records last week as the biggest debut since music sales have been tracked. And close behind "Millennium" at No. 1 ia another Calder's teeny bopper favorites, Britney Spears at No. 3. With screamimg girls rushing to grab Caldr's records off the shelves, the Jive's market share has surged to 10% this week, far outpacing the closet competitor. "Jive is the hottest label in the buisness," said Cory Robbins, president of the independent music label Robbins Entertainment. Success is nothing new to Clader, a South African-born entrepreneur who hit his stride in the 1980's with pop singer Billy Ocean. Calder later became a force in rap with acts like A Tribe Called Quest. Three years ago, he sold 20% stake in Jive's parent company Zomba Records to music giant BMG Entertainment. Asked repeatedly to discuss the latest sales success, Calder declined requests for an interview. ---- Phyllis Furman
