Here are two clippings that I read about the boys:

1) I found this in the June 7, 1999 issue of Time Magazine in the Short Takes Section Under the subtitle of Music. Note: It's just a little clipping.

MILLENNIUM The Backstreet Boys

---by David E. Thigpen

When a band sells 10 million albums its first time around, it ceases to be a band and becomes a franchise. Its objective turns from growth to survival. That's surely what Millennium's producers were thinking when they decided to reprise the same old boy-band routines - the synthetic arrangements, the pseudo-soul vocals. The sound draws scads of fans, but in the year since the BB's debut, half a dozen clones have flooded the market. Millennium might have seemed distinctive even, if it had taken a fraction of a chance.

2) The Daily News, a local New York City newspaper, has consistently been printing articles and following the Boys' success of their album Millennium and especially on the BSB hysteria that was present in our city the whole week before the release of their album. Here is an excerpt from an article in that same newspaper about songs and sounds of the summer:

Summer '99: The soundtrack

Ricky Martin to Madonna, here's what's in the air

---by Jim Farber

Which songs will suit this summer? Consider the trends of the moment, and you'll divine the answer: Latin cross-over songs, neo-psychedelic songs, crypto-disco songs, teen-idol songs and, of course, one big Madonna song.

Spin all those together and you get the season's main serenades:

1) Ricky Martin, "Livin' La Vida Loca"

2) The Backstreet Boys, "I Want It That Way." It's the number most likely to replace Martin's ditty in the No. 1 spot - should he ever relinquish it. "I Want It That Way" boasts the prettiest melody of any teeny-bop song this year. Who wouldn't want it that way?

3) Cher, "Strong Enough."

4) Britney Spears, "Sometimes."

5) Smashmouth, "All Star."

6) Jennifer Lopez, "If You Had My Love."

7) Missy Elliott, "She's a Bitch."

8) Enrique Iglesias, "Bailamos."

9) Sporty Thievz featuring Mr. Woods, "No Pigeons."

10) Madonna, "Beautiful Stranger."

3) Lastly, I dunno if any over your readers and submitters wrote anything about BSB taking over a radio station the day of the release of their album. Well on May 18, BSB was on the Z-morning show of the nyc station Z100 (my favorite radio station). They took over for the regular DJs while at the same time they were promoting the release of their album. They had Kevin as the main DJ, AJ as the weather and sound effects man, Brian did the news, phone calls, and sports with Nick, and Howie took care of traffic. And of course they were silly and doing crazy things as well as saying wacky things. They also did an a cappella version of "I Want It That Way" and sang "Happy Birthday" to someone. But just to let you know they did an awesome job and all I have to say "Man, are these fellas talented:-)"
